A NEW PLOT

"Well, the lesson is not enough. If she learned anything, you would see her here right now, but where is she?" the general asked his daughter as he chewed his pancake. Grace pressed her lips together, thinking of what to say. She didn't want her family to come apart.

"Every sin can be forgiven..." Grace started, her voice soft and imploring.

"That's enough now, Grace," her sister Kate interjected sharply. "Anna isn't the only granddaughter anymore. We have Nari now. All the love you had for that useless girl should be passed on to Nari." She said it with a finality that stung, cutting Grace off mid-sentence.

Grace frowned, her frustration boiling over. "What good is that girl? No matter how hard you try, Kate, she'll never be a part of this family." Her voice was sharp, earning a glare from Kate.

"And Anna is any better? Come on, Grace, you didn't even like her mother when she was alive," Kate retorted, her tone icy.
