I Have Room for You

A thousand question marks were written on Keagan's face, but she decided not to blurt out her ignorance. After all, she might come off as rude if she questioned Wren about everything. This successful woman was the inheritor of the Carousel Group and the President/CEO of Golden Bloom. Her love life should have been a hot topic, and all they spoke about was her purity.

Wren Chastain was never seen with any man, so many speculated she was an old maid or a man-hater. As for liking women, she showed no signs of flirting with other women either. Everyone thought Wren Chastain just lived as a self-complete woman. To hear about her husband was too wild.

They were even divorced.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to intrude…" Keagan chuckled as she combed her hand through her hair in a sudden meekness. She shouldn't ask how they split up even if she grew curious. After all, she could speak about another thing that she noticed.

"Uh, Gephardt is your cat, right?" Keagan slowly spoke and earned an affirmative hum as an answer. "He said I should call him Mr. Kosarin, so his name must be Gephardt Kosarin, right? Is that like how couples regard their pets as their children?"

Wren paused in her spot, and Gephardt quickly flicked his eyes up to meet Keagan's gaze. He then growled and hissed, but his cheeks started to flare. "He's not my dad!"

Keagan's eyes flickered again despite the glare meeting her gaze. Why did this human male react like a pet in more ways than one? Did he act like this a lot, which made Wren treat him the way he wanted? Or was it because she thought of him as a cat that he began acting like one? It was funny. It even made Keagan giggle behind her hand.

At this, Wren chuckled lightly before caressing Gephardt's head again. "Hush now. It's okay. He's not your dad, and he didn't pick you up. You allowed him to bring you somewhere safer. You didn't need his help to survive, and he was the one who needed company."

"That's right." Gephardt scoffed and returned to drinking the frappes by Wren's knee. He even mumbled words, but Keagan couldn't catch them.

"You'd find that Lev and Gephardt are cousins. Since Lev goes around the world a lot, he ends up leaving Gephardt in my care all the time." Wren brought her gaze at Keagan, but her hand kept stroking Gephardt's head. "In the end, even after divorce, Gephardt and I still live together. It's not like I have no more room for another person.

"I have room for you, too, Keagan." Wren tilted her head to a side and smiled a little more. "You don't have to 'crash' at my place every night if you decide to live with us."

Curiosity made Keagan tilt her head in the same direction. It was as if it would help her understand Wren more. After all, this woman was asking a stranger to live with her. She just met Keagan a few days ago; why were her doors being opened to Keagan like this? It was not that Keagan had no need for her offer, but it was a little strange.

The blonde lady's hand curled into a loose ball. As someone who didn't want to get taken advantage of again, Keagan wanted to decline the long-term stay. It was just that… the gleam in Wren's eyes was drawing her in. The feeling was even so strong that Keagan couldn't think straight anymore.

'Stay with me,' 'Let us be together,' 'I will protect you,' and a lot more notions clouded her mind. She looked at those gleaming dark eyes and felt like she was drowning. However, in a flash, Keagan flinched and pulled back a little.

"What's wrong?" Wren flinched just the same. "Is everything all right? You look pale all of a sudden. Are you hungry? We can go out to eat before going home."

"…I'm all right. I just… I just felt a little dizzy." Keagan chuckled and used a hand to hide her face from Wren. She clutched on the couch and stared at her own knees.

Just earlier, flashes of images flooded her mind. The pictures moved so fast that all Keagan caught was a glimpse of Wren's face covered in so much blood. Her eyes were blood-red, and her hands had long claws. She stood over Keagan's image as if a tigress watching over a baby boar. What was worse was that it even looked like she had seen multiple versions of Wren doing the same thing.

It was as if they had always been locked in that kind of situation multiple times. However, Keagan was so sure that she never met Wren before that party.

"Hm, you must feel sickly again. Have you even eaten anything this morning?" Wren patted Gephardt and had him move, so she could leave the couch. "I'll speak to the board for a moment. When I return, let's head out to eat lunch. Gephardt, why don't you think of what you want to eat today?"

"Huh? Sure…" Gephardt hummed and stared at the cozy rug he was sitting on while thinking. He didn't even care about Keagan's presence as he thought of their food.

Keagan just watched Wren leave the room, closing the door behind her without getting someone to watch over her and Gephardt. After all, they shouldn't be in the CEO's office if the CEO wasn't there. A lot of things were stored in there that shouldn't be seen by outsiders.

Then again, Keagan just hoped to find a way to relax one of these days. She might be coming back to that magnificent Pineberry Estate, but what if she never felt comfortable staying in it? It was the home of a woman she just met… and that woman's cat, who was actually a person. There was even an ex-husband who might come along sometime once he decided to visit Wren and Gephardt.

A space for herself… something she owned… Keagan just wanted to have something to rebuild with. Her pretty face and desirable figure were assets, but the name connected to them was a wreck. After the scandal, she was shadow-banned from everything. She couldn't even land a job anywhere.

Keagan Allard was a name that was covered in shame. Even if she wanted to change her name and start a life somewhere else, she had no money or capability to do so.

"Hey." Keagan's trance broke when Gephardt called out to her. There was no name, but Keagan figured he was talking to her. He stared straight at her face before saying, "Do you like seafood? I haven't eaten fish and shrimp this week. Are you going to eat seafood?"

"Why haven't you eaten a fish for a week?" Playing along, Keagan giggled. "Isn't fish a cat's thing?"
