A youngling has sprouted.

On a brisk winter day in a small town located in the North American territory formally known as Pennsylvania, the local Jewelry maker was woken early to the sound of his wife screeching out in pain and excitement. "It's time!" She called out to her husband. "The baby is coming!"

"Don't worry, my love; I'll get the midwife!".

"Please hurry, Edward, I'm in so much pain!". The young Jeweler grabbed his coat and rushed off into the biting cold, slamming the door behind him as he fled down the road into the town square. When he had finally reached the midwife's home located in the east of the town square near the entrance of the forest of Xanderella, Edward was exhausted. His heart pounded, and sweat fell from his brow. Barely able to catch his breath, he cried out in a weak voice, "Please help; my wife is in labour "! Edward began panicking and knocking vigorously on the door of the midwife's home. "Hurry, open the door; come on now, this is an emergency!"

"Who goes there what; a voice yelled out from behind the door.

"It's Me, Edward Lincolndale!" My wife, she's in labour!"

"Oh my, Sarah is in labour! "Why, she wasn't due until next Saturday!" said the midwife as she scrambled to unlock and open her front door. Yes, of course, I'm well aware of that, Mrs. Whitney!" Now, could you please hurry? We don't have much time!"

"Alright, we'll take my Electrarider.

Edward looks around, "Are we ready now, everybody?

Just about," said Mrs. Whitney. I got a few essential items for the birthing process to pack up."

"Urrm, essential items?

"Oh yes, most certainly; you don't want nothing going wrong that could put your wife or baby at risk, do you now?"

"No, of course not! "Which is precisely why we must hurry!

The midwife rolled her eyes and shook her head. "Look now, don't you worry, I've been delivering babies in this town for many generations; why, I even delivered you! The midwife then calmly walked back into her house and began to gather her herbs and tools. All the while, her half-asleep husband sat in the Electrarider, seemingly detached from all the happenings around him. After a short time had passed, the trio arrived. Edward and the midwife sprang from the vehicle upon arrival and hastily ran straight into the house, where they were met with the sight of Sarah curled up on the sofa in tears as she clutched at her abdomen.

"Sarah, my darling, how are you fairing???"

"Oh, Edward, it hurts so much; I can't take it much longer!" Sarah cried out with agony as her body began to contort in pain. Edward grew increasingly more nervous with each passing screech from his beloved wife. Mrs Whitney Calmly approached Sarah with a warm smile; she gently stroked her forehead. "Now, my dear, don't you fret. Everything will be okay, and soon, you will have your new baby in your arms. Now, let's get you into bed, shall we?" "Edward lad, how's about you help me get Sarah to her bed? Edward and Mrs. Whitney both helped to get Sarah into bed. "Now, Edward, go and fetch me a bowl of warm water!" barked the midwife loudly. While Edward was getting the water prepared, the midwife began mixing up various kinds of herbs in a mortar bowl. "What's all that then?" Sarah asked the midwife with a side-eyed glance.

"Oh well, this will help you with pain, my sweet." Sarah let out a great sigh of relief as she thanked the midwife for bringing something to relieve her from the intense pain of childbirth. Edward returned to the bedroom with the warm water prepared in a large mixing bowl and handed it to Mrs Whitney.

The midwife grabbed from her satchel a small glass vile.

She then added a bit of warm water and a strange purple liquid stored in a second vile after vigorously shaking the medicinal concoction for a few minutes.

Mrs Whitney handed the medication to Sarah, "Alright then, go on now, drink up!

Sarah did as she was told and drank the entire vile of medicine, and all pain had vanished entirely. The midwife shouted, "Now push!

The birthing process began and continued for much of that day until finally, as the winter sun started to set, the wee little cries of a new baby swept across the couple's home. "Oh, my, will you look at that, a healthy baby girl!" The midwife gently set the baby onto Sarah's chest. Sarah tearfully embraced her precious new baby and gazed deeply into the infant's big blue eyes. "My sweet baby girl, my pride and my joy!" "You came to me on a cold stormy night, so I shall call you "Stormy".

"Stormy, I love it!" said Edward as he beamed with pride over his new little bundle of joy.

"Well, I'll be going then so that you all can start bonding with your little one and getting on with your new life as parents." "Thank you ever so much for all you did for my wife and baby, Mrs. Whitney!" After the midwife had left, Edward prepared a quick meal of cheese, chocolate, blueberries and nuts for his wife.

"Here you go, eat up and get some strength back."

"Ooo, Edward, I love chocolate; Sarah said with wide eyes and a grin. "Me too," Laughed Edward.

Sarah ate dinner as Stormy suckled her breast for milk, and soon after they had eaten, both mother and baby fell fast asleep. Edward gently put a warm, fluffy blanket over them and walked into the den; he sat in His favourite armchair, and he, too, drifted off to sleep. The following day, the couple woke up bright and early to tend to their new baby and enjoy breakfast together. After breakfast, Sarah nursed Stormy, changed her, and set her into her baby swing for a rest so she could have time to send messages to family and friends, informing them of the baby's arrival.
