The Legend of District 36

District 36, holds many unsolved mysteries. Many terrifying stories are spread in the beautiful and peaceful district.

There is a chilling story that every time the night of October 31 approaches, there is often a chilling sound and also the appearance of a figure that is difficult to explain.

At a fork in the road not far from a convenience store, there is a small, dark alley. There is a mysterious woman who inhabits the place.

It is said that the woman was a murder victim on the night before Halloween. Not accepting her death, she became a vengeful ghost who was ready to kill anyone who heard her voice calling for help.

If anyone dares to approach the alley after hearing a woman moaning for help. The woman will appear with her wide grin and kill that person.

"AAAHHHHHHH!!!!"

"Aaahh~!" A woman stretched her body upwards after she woke up from her sleep. She felt so refreshed after a good night's sleep.

"Good morning, dear. Are you getting hungry?" she asked as she rubbed her stomach where her baby was. A gentle smile appeared on her face as she continued to engage her baby in conversation.

Even though her baby was not too big, Amanda sometimes talked to her baby. She already felt that her baby understood her feelings at this time.

Getting out of bed, Amanda went to the bathroom to clean herself up. She took off the clothes she was wearing and put them in the laundry basket. Turning on the bathtub faucet, Amanda got into it and soaked. Waiting for the water to fill the bathtub.

Although the house looks simple, it turns out that the bathroom is so complete with a bathtub and shower. It made Amanda feel happy to be able to rent the place. Besides the friendly neighbors, the atmosphere was also so calm.

Finished with her bath, Amanda intended to make breakfast. She rolled her hair up and tied it. Just as she was about to turn on the stove, a knock stopped her hand.

"Hmn, who came this early?" Amanda went straight to the front door to see who had come to her house.

When the door was opened, it was Camille standing at her door. In her hand was a bowl. "Morning Amanda, I thought you were still sleeping..."

"Oh Camille, come in. I just finished my shower."

Amanda invited Camille inside and they sat in the kitchen, on the dining chairs. Camille put down the bowl she had brought, she opened the lid and it was chicken soup.

"I made chicken soup this morning, so I wanted to share it with you..." she said.

"Oh... It looks delicious. Thank you very much, Camille." Amanda said looking at the soup which also had a lot of vegetables in it.

"Eat it while it's warm."

She nodded and took a spoon and ate it. It tasted so good, there was sweetness from the corn and also the carrots. Amanda was so happy every time Camille brought her cooking, everything tasted good, a mother's home cooking.

"Are you still off today?" asked Camille.

"Yes, Jhon hasn't called me back to work yet. He said he still has to renovate some parts of the cafe too," Amanda replied.

It had been a week since she had come to work because the cafe was in a very messy state. Some things had to be replaced and renovated. That's why she didn't go anywhere during her absence.

"Oh yeah, it's Halloween the day after tomorrow. Have you prepared anything?"

"Halloween? Ahh... That's right. It's already the end of October, isn't it?" Amanda asked.

Camille nodded her head. "Here in District 36, children celebrate Halloween. Although there are not many houses around here, they will go around looking for candy to the houses that are there."

Amanda nodded in understanding, she had never celebrated Halloween before because she was always busy with her work. But she knew how the Halloween atmosphere was every year.

"At least make one pumpkin and prepare candy for the kids. They'll be very happy," Camille explained.

"Alright, I'll buy it later," Amanda replied.

However, Camille advised Amanda not to go out at night. Especially going to the convenience store during the approaching Halloween night until two days after.

"What's wrong with that?"

The woman called Big Mama told me that there was a local story in their district about a ghost that roamed the night before Halloween. A terrible and sinister ghost, not hesitant to kill anyone mercilessly to avenge his death.

Hearing Camille's story about the ghost, Amanda honestly didn't believe it. She did not believe in anything related to ghosts or things that were beyond human logic. But she appreciated Camille's story and said she would keep that in mind.

"Then I'll go home first, I have to prepare Liliana's equipment for school," Camille said goodbye to Amanda.

"Oh yes, of course." Amanda followed Camille to the front door and locked it after Camille left.

"Ghosts, huh?"

******

The next day, Amanda went to the convenience store to buy pumpkins as well as several packs of candy and chocolate. She hoped it would be enough for the kids. She also bought some Halloween decorations for her doorstep.

She had never bought anything like this before. Even when she was in Zondalia on Halloween night, she spent her time at the base doing her mission.

This time she would decorate her house with a Halloween theme.

"It'll be a lot of fun." She paid for all the items she bought and then went home to prepare everything.

Later that evening, Amanda started carving a pumpkin to make a Jack O' Lattern that she would place in front of her house. While making it, Amanda remembers that she used to make one like this with William.

Flashback

Amanda sat in William's chair as she waited for him to return from buying food. It was Halloween night, so many people dressed up as ghosts or whatever that night.

While busy with the monitor screen William was looking for information about their target. William suddenly came in carrying two small pumpkins.

"What are these?" asked Amanda.

"Pumpkins, can't you see them or did you forget?"

"No, I mean... I know it's a pumpkin. But what are they for?" Amanda asked again.

William explained that they could relax for a while while making Jack O' Lattern from the pumpkin. After all, their task now was just to wait for their target to arrive at a location. Hearing that, Amanda didn't mind making one too.

They both decorated the pumpkin with a knife. Both William and Amanda were so focused on making their respective pumpkin decorations.

"Mine is done!" Amanda exclaimed showing her pumpkin to William.

"Ohh... Your pumpkin is fine too. But look at mine!" The man showed his own, a pumpkin carved with a hideous face that looked really good. "See? He's handsome like me,"

'You're much better looking than that pumpkin, Willy...' Amanda smiled.

"Hmnnnn... I think the pumpkin is better than you," Amanda teased William.

William frowned at Amanda's teasing. But in the end they both laughed as they went back to decorating their pumpkins.

Flashback End

Amanda smiled remembering those days, she went back to carving her current pumpkin and momentarily looked at the candy bowl nearby.

"Will this be enough? What if there's not enough candy, I remember there are a lot of kids here. If I give one to each of them, I'm afraid they'll feel bad."

Seeing that, Amanda took the initiative to go to the sweet shop to buy more candy. She looked at the clock on the wall, it was half past nine in the evening. There was still time for her to go to the candy store.

She straightened her clothes and went outside. While outside, she saw Camille who had just passed by.

"Camille!" she called.

"Oh Amanda, are you going out too?" asked Camille.

"Yes, I'm going to the sweet shop. What about you?" asked Amanda as she walked in the same direction as Camille.

"I'm going to buy another pumpkin. Liliana's Jack O' Latern fell to pieces. Now she's crying for a new one. So I went out to buy it for her."

They went together to the shopping area because it was one-way. Unfortunately when they got there, the shop had closed early. They were both confused about where else to go. Amanda suggested that they could go to the mini market instead.

"M-mini market? But..." Camille looked scared because of the stories that had been circulating for a long time like folklore there.

However, Amanda assured Camille that they would be fine. Since they were going together, Camille agreed with Amanda's idea even though she still felt so scared.

Along the way, Camille keeps holding on to Amanda because she feels scared. Amanda rubbed Camille's arm to calm the middle-aged woman down. Arriving at the convenience store, they quickly bought what they needed and headed home.

For the second time, they had to pass through the deserted and silent streets. The flickering lights and the cold, eerie atmosphere made Camille even more frightened.

"H-how is this? It's so quiet now... Plus..."

"Shhh... It's okay, Camille. I'm here, there's no need to be afraid..." Amanda said soothingly to Camille.

"You're not scared? Isn't it scary here? Or... You're not human?"

Amanda blinked her eyes in confusion at Camille's words and then laughed. She said that she was still human, she was just used to that kind of situation.

When they passed a T-junction, a frightened Camille had already walked ahead leaving Amanda behind because she was too frightened. Amanda just smiled and shook her head.

However, she faintly heard a voice from the small alley at the T-junction. It sounded like someone moaning for help.

"Help... Me... Please help."

Feeling something strange about it, Amanda paused for a moment in front of the alley and then slowly approached the place. The alley lights were off making it difficult to see inside.

"Hello? Is someone there?"

Just as Amanda was about to approach, Camille called out to her from a distance, making Amanda immediately run over to the woman.

"Don't walk away from me, I'm scared..." Camille said.

"You're the one who walked away from me first... Ahahaha." The two of them went back home.

Leaving a haunted deserted alley, with flashing lights and a mysterious woman holding a scissors. Walking into the dark alley and slowly disappearing.
