Chapter 18: Furious Rage

The "Divine Sword Academy" residence was unguarded by any disciples or members of the other three major families. After all, each martial academy's resting place usually had disciples stationed there, and no power in the Divine Capital would dare to offend the seven major martial academies, so there was no need for additional security.

Unconcerned about these matters, Chu Xiaotian stepped through the gate. Upon entering, he was greeted by a winding corridor and a stone path leading down the steps. On both sides, there were a dozen or so rooms, each furnished with beds, tables, and chairs made from the ground. Passing through a small door inside, he reached the backyard where a towering tree grew along the wall. The setting sun shone through the gaps, adding a touch of beauty. Beside it was a small fish pond with lively, dancing fish...

Chu Xiaotian entered the residence and found an unoccupied room, hanging up his identity token to indicate that someone was present and that they were a disciple of the martial academy. As night fell, he left the residence alone, walking in the bustling city, feeling the liveliness around him. After spending a long time in the Divine Sword Academy, he felt isolated from the world.

After getting what he needed, Chu Xiaotian planned to return to the Divine Sword Academy residence without lingering. Suddenly, an assailant attacked, but Chu Xiaotian, relaxed and off-guard in the safety of the Divine Capital, swiftly dodged the critical strike. The assailant's dagger grazed his waist, leaving a wound from which blood flowed. The attack was swift and the assailant too close for complete evasion, so he could only avoid the vital spots.

"How is this possible?" The assassin, shocked at his failure to kill Chu Xiaotian at such close range, realized his error in judgment. Chu Xiaotian's strength was definitely not just at the second or third level of the Martial Realm. The assassin, at the third level of the Martial Realm and skilled in unpredictable assassination techniques, confident in killing even seventh-level Martial Realm warriors, failed against Chu Xiaotian.

"Stay!" The assassin tried to escape through the crowd, but underestimated Chu Xiaotian, who moved swiftly with the wind, gently dispersing the crowd without causing them any harm. In an instant, Chu Xiaotian confronted the assassin.

"Spirit Yuan Realm!" The assassin, recognizing Chu Xiaotian's movement and the spreading spiritual energy, knew his life was over.

In desperation, the assassin bit a poison pill in his mouth, causing blood to flow from his orifices, dying instantly. "Murder, murder, murder..." The crowded street erupted into panic, with people fleeing the scene. Chu Xiaotian stood alone, frowning at the commotion.

The disturbance quickly attracted the attention of the Divine Sword Academy disciples, who soon arrived, along with members of the three major families. "Who dares cause trouble in the Divine Capital?!" a voice thundered.

The Divine Sword Academy had a rule: no one in the Divine Capital could strike at will. Personal grievances had to be settled on the Life and Death Stage. "It's you!" The first Divine Sword Academy disciple to arrive recognized Chu Xiaotian.

"Do you know him?" Other disciples did not recognize Chu Xiaotian.

"Yes, he's the new student, Chu Xiaotian, who's been the talk of the academy recently," one disciple explained. They quickly noticed Chu Xiaotian's injury. "Were you assassinated?" they asked, seeing the bloodied figure on the ground.

"Yes, I was lucky to avoid the vital parts, or it would have been dangerous," Chu Xiaotian replied, feeling confused about who would target him. He thought of Zhou Yang but didn't mention it without concrete evidence.

"We will help you investigate," Guo Bufan, another disciple, assured. Chu Xiaotian's attack was a significant matter for the academy. Bai Li, the academy's head, was furious, and the news of Chu Xiaotian's rapid advancement to the Spirit Yuan Realm further shocked the academy's higher-ups. The academy resolved to thoroughly investigate the incident, scrutinizing both its own disciples and the three major families.

"What now? The mission failed, and the Divine Sword Academy is enraged."
