Hi, I'm Andrew Belmonte, I was just your average teenager, going to school, after school science club, playing online games with my friends.
Everything was going great, me and my friends went straight home after school, today was a special day. The very first VRMMORPG was about to open the servers globally.
Our VR sets came in the mail about a week ago, but there were no servers to play, until now.
Getting home, I was rushing to my room, sent my backpack flying across the bedroom e put on the VR helmet, I was ready to start my new adventure, and that's when I died.
— Why are you telling me this, I was there you know?
Said an old man with long gray robes sitting in front of him drinking tea.
— How could you let this happen to me?!!!
Taking a sip of his tea, the old man looks at young boy and says.
— To be honest, you might be the only person ever to have something like this happening to them.
Pausing to take another sip the old man continues.
— A small solar flare happen near your Solar System, those happen quite randomly, the solar flare sent and ionizing particle in your planet's direction.
Andrew was already done with the old man taking pauses between his speech, but remained silent.
— Usually those would hit somewhere in the ocean, or a desert, or the wall of a random building, but this time it hit your helmet, messing up the coding just enough for it to send an electrical current to you, it fried your brain quite instantly.
Slamming his hand on the floor Andrew was almost crying in defeat.
—The chances of that happening were cosmologically inexistent, but here we are.
With a sigh of defeat, the boy sat down and asked.
— And what now? I mean, I can't go back right?
Putting the tea cup beside him, the old man pulled a rope that seemed to come down from the sky.
— Well, in your case you can't go back to your old world's reincarnation cycle.
A big wheel of prizes came crashing down from the sky landing behind the old man.
— You died much earlier than your fated day, your destiny balance got disturbed and the parents of your next reincarnation haven't even been born yet.
Getting up, I followed the old man closer to the wheel, as he was getting ready to pull the lever he said.
— So the easiest choice, is to set a new destiny path for you in another reality.
As the lever was pulled, the wheel of destiny begun to spin, as it slowed down it landed on the "Magic Genius".
— So in your new destiny, you will have a genius understanding of magic, a very rare draw indeed.
Pulling the wheel again, Andrew noticed that all the previous choices were replaced, so it was now sorting a new aspect of his life.
As the wheel slowed down, it landed on "Above Average".
— At least you won't be ugly.
The old mas was about to pull the lever again when Andrew shouted.
— WAAAAIT, what is going on right now, an above avarage looking magical genius? Are you deciding who I'm going to be based on lucky spins??????
Pulling the lever, the old man just said in a calm voice.
— Yes.
Andrew felt a chill coming down his spine and decided to ask.
— Can you please just tell me what you are spinning for?
Looking at the boy, the old man just said.
— Health condition, I just wanna see if I need to add terminal illness, any body deformity or something like that.
Andrew felt like he was going to pass out, as the wheel slowed down, the whole world seemed to spin.
— Healthy, I guess it's alright.
Letting a relief sigh the lever was pulled again, but this time, it looked packed with choices.
— This one is important, it's your grade, in this world we get all types of monsters, demons, and even humans, but all of them have a grade, which dictates the upper limit of their strength.
Pulling the lever, the wheel seemed packed with different outcomes, as it slowed down, it looked like it was going to land on Heroic grade, but right beside Heroic, was the Trash grade.
Slowing down, the wheel was almost landing at the Heroic grade, but somehow it kept going just enough to stay in the gray line between the Heroic and Trash grades, little fireworks came from behind the wheel, something that didn't happen when he got the Magical Genius spin.
— What now? Is it heroic or trash grade?
Floating up, the old man got closer to the gray line, some kind of force took Andrew flying in the same direction.
— Well it's Mythic Grade, now that's something I don't get to see often.
Looking closer, the gray lines the boy thought were just separating the results, these were actually other possible outcomes.
His result was indeed Mythic grade, but right beside it were also legendary and demigod, as possible outcomes.
Floating down, the old man pulled the lever and the wheel started to spin again.
— Well, now we just need to decide a few more things before we set you off.
The wheel looked a bit lacking in choices, so Andrew decided to ask.
— What are we choosing now?
Still looking at the wheel te old man answered.
— Your faction, we got the Human and the Demons are at war, Magic Beasts are a neutral faction, we got the Elemental Spirits, also neutral faction, they only follow their summoners commands, the Elf's and Dawrves are on the Human's side, we got the Fae, Dragons and others.
As the wheel slowed down, the result was yet again in the gray area, right between Magical Beast and Elemental Spirit, looking closer the old man scratched his chin and said.
— A Cosmic Entity, we need and extra spin for that one.
The wheel changes again, but this time, only 5 choices were possible, before the old man could pull the lever, Andrew questioned him.
— What are these?
— Well, cosmic entities are basically the leftover energies of creation, when the reality was created, almost all the energy was spent, what little is left gives birth to one of these guys.
Looking at the wheel the five choices were, Astral Spirit, Galaxy Dragon, Origin Anomaly, Cosmic Djinn and Voidling.
The wheel starts to spin, Andrew is seriously hoping for a Galaxy Dragon, who wouldn't want to be a massive dragon made of stars.
As it slowed down, Andrew was looking at it with big eyes because it really looked like it's going to land on the galaxy dragon.
— Just a bit more pleeeease.
But the wheel wasn't so kind, passing just a bit after the Galaxy Dragon, the final outcome was.
— A Cosmic Djinn it is then, now for the final spin.
The wheel changes once again, this time packed full of different choices. From kingdom treasury to hidden cave, it was really hard to guess what he was spinning to.
— What are we deciding this time?
After pulling the lever the old man looks a bit concerned.
— Where you will be placed, Djinn's are usually bound to a vessel, your vessel could end up anywhere, this will decide where or what is going to be your place in this reality, worst case, you will be in the depths on space where no one will set you free.
Andrew was so shocked his face froze. That was basically saying his whole life depended on this last spin, and the wheel was already starting to slow down.
— Can we not decide this so randomly???? It's my life you are playing with!!!!
The wheel stops.
— NOOOOOO PLEAAAAAAAASE!!!!
— A Guardian Spirit.
— A what now?
The old man looked tired of the boy so he just said.
— I'll give you a manual, your new fate has been decided, good luck on your next life.
Andrew started to dissipate in light particles as the old man is left alone.
— What kind of luck is that?
He said letting out a tired sigh.
