He stood there watching the monitors as the shuttles tried to land. Finally, with the Destroyer occupied and the AA-guns kept busy by the cruisers, a few shuttles landed on the base. Their occupants, armed Crubots with pulsers and infrasonic grenades, exited the shuttle's pods and engaged the Xentan defenders.
"Dunesin, we have had our first landing." The trooper at the console informed him as though he wasn't there, watching the screens with them.
"I can see that," he answered halfheartedly and looked at his chronometer again. "Any word from the Nesaba?" He asked Falia.
"None, Dunesin." The trooper confirmed. Sorah hoped that the Nesaba and it's crew were able to hold off the Xentan SpaceGuard for another hour.
"Get in contact with the Sayolas and give Moädunesin Angam my orders, to begin heavy assault on the base. Begin exporting the Carriers as well," He barked at another Dumus seated next to Falia.
"Yes, Dunesin."
"Falia, keep trying to get in contact with the Nesaba and find out the situation over there with the SpaceGuard. Their outcome there could very well determine ours here," he added as an afterthought.
"Dunesin, the XC-D1173...Rollas, has just changed course and is headed east, towards Kosh," Dumus Falia said quickly.
Sorah quickly turned to the radar monitors.
That's strange. What's he trying to do now, he thought. The pilot was either desperate, trying to escape or he was planning to warn the mega-city of the Crugi's presence on Sirius. Either way, Sorah wanted none of the alternatives to happen. It would hurt his pride for days to let the Destroyer go and he knew it.
"Establish direct connection to Keron Soto," he ordered.
"In a second, Dunesin."
Instantly, the visor-clad head of the Cruiser pilot reappeared on the main monitor.
"Soto, what are you doing up there? Shoot down that Destroyer!" He yelled.
"We are on it, Dunesin. It's just....."
"No excuses. Do it!" He jabbed at a button and terminated the link to the Keron. He then watched as the Cruisers zeroed in on the Destroyer. The first volley took apart the right wing of the spacecraft and the vessel began pummeling downwards, losing momentum. Another volley blast hit the side of the vessel and Sorah exulted silently as the XC-D1173 exploded and her parts were flung across the plains of the planet.
