Infusion

"Come on, John! You're not made of glass! Show me what you've got!"

John, determined to prove himself, tightened his stance and lunged at Alex. Despite his best efforts, he struggled against Alex's superior physical abilities.

Alex chuckled, "You've got the energy, but you need some muscle too!"

Frustrated, John responded, "Easy for you to say, Mr. Perfect!"

John gritted his teeth, struggling to match Alex's pace. Every attempt to counter was met with swift dodges and well-timed strikes. Fatigue settled in, making each movement more challenging.

Alex, noticing John's struggle, grinned, "You've got the energy, John. Now let's work on the rest!"

Despite the physical exhaustion, John's determination burned. He pushed through the fatigue, refusing to back down. The uneven spar continued, with Alex maintaining the upper hand.

As the session neared its end, John's frustration was evident. He was eager to improve, knowing that both physical strength and energy control were vital for a Bender.

Benji observed John's struggle against Alex, noting the clear imbalance in their physical combat. He approached John with a reassuring tone, "John, it's not just about raw strength. You need a blend of strength and agility, a balance that complements your bending skills."

John, catching his breath, nodded attentively. "But Alex is so fast," he admitted.

"Speed is an advantage, but it can be countered with the right technique," Benji explained. "Focus on refining your movements, increase your agility. It's about being precise and anticipating your opponent's actions."

John nodded, determination in his eyes. "I'll work on it."

Gordon, with a confident stride, joined the training area, overhearing Benji's advice to John. He couldn't resist chiming in, a smirk playing on his face. "Well, well, if it isn't John struggling with the basics. Guess what? I've got something you don't."

John, focused on his training, glanced at Gordon, intrigued yet a bit annoyed. "What's that?" he asked, expecting some typical Gordon boast.

Gordon pointed at his chest. "Raw power. I might not be the fastest like Alex or good with energy as you, but when it comes to sheer strength, I've got you both beat."

John rolled his eyes, "Strength isn't everything, Gordon."

Gordon laughed, dismissing John's response. "Just wait and see, Johnny boy. There's more to bending than just dancing around." With a confident grin, Gordon continued his own training, leaving John to ponder the challenges of their diverse abilities.

John grumbled under his breath. Alex, noticing his irritation, approached with a reassuring pat on the shoulder. "Don't let Gordon get under your skin. He's always like that."

"Yeah, but he's not entirely wrong," John admitted, still annoyed.

Benji overheard their conversation and joined in, offering his perspective. "Rivalries can be healthy, guys. It pushes you to improve. Just keep it friendly and not too intense."

Alex chuckled, "Easy for you to say. You're not the one dealing with Gordon and his issues."

Benji raised an eyebrow, "Maybe there's more to it than just rivalry, huh?"

Taking a deep breath, John decided to step outside for a moment. The cool breeze provided a welcome contrast to the intensity of the training room. As he leaned against the wall, he couldn't shake off the feeling of frustration and Gordon's taunts echoing in his mind.

Why does it bother me so much? John pondered, rubbing his temples. I know he's just trying to get under my skin. But what if he's right? Am I really falling behind in some aspects of bending?

Lost in thought, John stared at the horizon, not noticing another person next to him.

John turned to find Anne standing beside him, her expression a mix of determination and uncertainty. "I've decided," she began, "I don't want to join the Bender Force. There's more to bending than just fighting, and I want to explore that."

John, surprised by her revelation, nodded understandingly. "That's cool, Anne. Everyone's got their path. What made you decide?"

With a small smile, Anne gazed at the Grand Energy Nexus in the distance. "I saw the Nexus glowing green, just like my energy. Maybe there's a way to contribute without having to fight. I want to find that way."

John, leaning against the wall, chuckled. "Guess we're all figuring out our paths, huh?"

Anne nodded, "Yeah, I'll continue learning the basics from Benji. I need to understand bending, even if I'm not going to use it for fighting."

As Anne walked away, John couldn't help but respect her decision. He turned his attention back to his own journey, thinking about how to improve both his physical strength and energy control. The Grand Energy Festival was approaching fast, and he wanted to make a mark.

As he headed back to train, he came across Lila, and they greeted each other politely.

Lila hesitated for a moment before shyly approaching John, "Um, hey... do you mind if I, you know, join you?"

John, a bit surprised but welcoming, nodded. As they practiced, Lila observed John's movements and, in her soft-spoken manner, offered, "I noticed, uh, you might want to focus on balance, not just strength. It helps with, um, agility."

Lila hesitated before saying, "Um, I saw Gordon using energy to, you know, enhance his punches. Maybe you could try using your energy to, um, amplify your physical abilities?"

"Hmm, that sounds doable. Thanks I guess." John said, and Lila managed to flash an awkward smile in response.

John, fueled by determination, headed back to the training room, ready to continue the sparring session with Alex.

"Ready for another round?" Alex grinned, acknowledging John's return.

"Absolutely," John replied, his tone reflecting newfound determination. Lila's suggestion had sparked a fresh perspective on his training.

As they sparred, John focused on implementing the lessons learned from Benji and Lila. "Try infusing your movements with energy," Lila's advice echoed in his mind.

In John's mind, he focused on summoning and redirecting energy. Picture by picture, he visualized the flow into his fists, attempting to create a connection between the raw force within and his physical form.

Each breath seemed to echo his determination as he carefully balanced the infusion, trying not to overpower his natural strength. It was a mental puzzle, guided by Lila's suggestion.

In this internal workshop, the crimson energy responded, pulsating and reaching out to him. And John grabbed it.

In a surge of determination, John harnessed the crimson energy, guiding it through his veins like a controlled storm. His fists glowed intensely as he countered Alex's strike, the energy resonating with newfound strength. The room vibrated with the power, and for that brief moment, John felt a connection to the very essence of bending.

"Whoa, John! That was something else," Alex exclaimed, eyeing John's hands now aglow with crimson energy.

John grinned, the elation evident in his voice, "I guess the energy infusion worked! Let's see what more we can do with this, Alex."

Alex lunged forward, his movements swift and calculated, but John matched him, redirecting the energy through his limbs to enhance his agility. Their exchange was a dance of bending prowess, a dynamic blend of punches, dodges, and counterattacks.

The crimson and purple energies clashed, creating a mesmerizing display. John's newfound strength allowed him to hold his ground against Alex's seasoned techniques. Each strike resonated with power, echoing through the training room. The air crackled with energy as the two sparred, pushing each other to the limits.

Despite the intensity, there was an unspoken camaraderie between them. Alex's eyes gleamed with excitement, recognizing John's progress. The clash of energies continued, a symphony of movement and power that showcased the evolving skills of both benders.

As the energy-fueled battle reached its peak, Alex's enthusiasm got the best of him. In a moment of exhilaration, he miscalculated a move, leaving an opening. John seized the opportunity, swiftly maneuvering to throw Alex off balance. With a well-timed redirect, Alex found himself on the mat, and John emerged victorious.

As they caught their breath after the intense spar, Alex grinned and clapped John on the back. "Impressive move, man. I didn't see that coming."

John chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck. "Thanks, Alex. Your flips were no joke either. We're getting somewhere with this training."

Alex nodded, looking thoughtful. "Yeah, Benji's methods seem to be working for both of us. This combo of energy and physical skills is turning out to be pretty effective. I gotta try that too."

As the training session came to an end, Alex clapped John on the back, suggesting, "How about we grab a bite at Eastons'? It's been a good day."

John grinned, nodding in agreement. "Sure thing, and why not invite Lila too? She's the reason behind the progress today, after all."
