Chapter 24: Inferiority Complex From Being Human

After continuous efforts by the Continental Hotel over the past three years, the rogue lifestyle of most yokai began to change.

When Leo reviewed the criminal data analysis report for the past year, he felt content.

The crime rate in the southern region of Japan had rapidly declined since Leo managed to recruit the Shrine gods.

The barrier between yokai and humans was slowly shrinking.

Leo didn't want to make the existence of Yokai an open secret to the entire world.

His vision was to create a supernatural civilisation where supernatural beings could live and develop different occupations suitable for them.

However, this supernatural society had to remain hidden from ordinary humans to avoid widespread panic and governmental intervention.

He knew that if the existence of yokai were revealed, it could cause mass hysteria, leading governments to send their forces to try to capture and research them.

This, in turn, might give Onmyoji a chance to gain governmental support and attack yokai settlements.

Although yokai had existed in this world for a long time, they were ineffective at creating civilizations, often fighting among themselves over territorial disputes.

Meanwhile, humans left them behind, developing many civilizations and gradually forgetting about yokai, considering their myths.

Creating a supernatural society was a long-term goal, but to achieve it, Leo needed to implement a few things: proper currency exclusive to the yokai, jobs, laws, banks, schools, and more.

At present, only his maids were aware of his plan.

Sigh...

"Next problem is education... what should I do?"

With a sigh, Leo turned to look at the large stack of forms containing the details of many yokai and began sorting through them.

Ukiyoe High School

Rikuo Nura was listening to his math teacher's lecture while Kiyotsugu lay lazily on his desk with a bored expression.

Though Rikuo appeared attentive, his mind was elsewhere.

'Kana-chan... did you trim your hair a little?'

His eyes frequently drifted to the girl sitting two desks in front of him.

Even though he knew he liked Kana, he couldn't muster the courage to confess his feelings.

Suddenly, his mind wandered to a past conversation he had with Leo.

Flashback...

"Rikuo, do you like that girl with the messy hair over there?"

Leo asked, pointing at Kana, who was chatting with Natsumi when he and his friends met Leo during one of their paranormal squad's search trips.

"Wha!!!... Wha!!!... I don't... it's not like that!!!"

Rikuo stammered, his face red with embarrassment as he avoided eye contact.

Sigh...

"Look here, kid."

Leo, seeing Rikuo embarrass himself, decided to give him some advice.

Rikuo turned and looked at Leo, who was shaking him vigorously.

"In love or war, if you hesitate to take action, others will.

As a senior, I advise you to immediately tell her how you feel. Otherwise... you might get NTR'ed."

With the utmost serious expression, Leo began giving Rikuo valuable tips based on his vast experience.

Flashback ends...

After that conversation, Rikuo tried to gather the courage to confess to Kana, but he couldn't bring himself to do it.

When the class ended, Kiyotsugu energetically got up and invited everyone to the school rooftop.

During the break, they all met there.

"I found an interesting story about a few delinquents who claimed they encountered a scary yokai at the seashore and got attacked,"

Kiyotsugu said, showing everyone an article on his phone.

Sigh...

"But unfortunately, it was deleted five minutes after being posted,"

Kiyotsugu added, closing his phone and putting it in his pocket.

"So, what do you guys think about going to that place to continue our investigation?"

he asked excitedly.

Jiro eagerly accepted the idea, but Kana, Natsumi, and Saori declined, saying they had other plans.

Seeing an opportunity, Rikuo also claimed he was unavailable due to a family issue and hurriedly left, following Kana.

With not many participants, Kiyotsugu and Jiro decided to postpone their investigation.

Nura Clan's Mansion

Rikuo returned home early due to not accompanying his friends.

He saw his mother, Wakana, chatting with Mavis while drinking tea.

Ever since Leo appeared in his life, many things on the supernatural side had dramatically changed, sending shockwaves through the entire supernatural world.

Although Rikuo rarely attended clan meetings unless they were important or in an emergency where his grandpa was unavailable,

he knew what was happening by listening to the excited conversations of yokai in the mansion.

By questioning them, he realized how much impact Leo had on the supernatural world.

"Young lord!..."

"Young lord!..."

"Young lord!..."

As Rikuo was welcomed by the excited crowd of yokai, he smiled and moved towards his room.

Even though he loved them and his family, he always felt like an outsider.

He didn't know if it was due to his inferiority complex from being human and not being able to access his Yokai side.

He was still sceptical about the news that he had turned into a yokai when he was eight years old when his friends were attacked.

No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't remember that night when he supposedly transformed into his yokai self.

Sigh...

'If only I were a yokai,' Rikuo thought with a sad sigh as he fell onto his bed, exhausted.

After 3 years...

Continental Hotel...

A news release caused a sensation among the Yokai.

The Continental Hotel had established a new branch that sold items, causing an uproar.

There were weapons, potions, and more, all available for purchase using Continental currency.

When Nurarihyon noticed a potion on the list of items, he immediately headed to the Continental Hotel to buy it with the currency he had earned.

It was a sky-blue potion named Potential Unlock, which could unlock hidden potential when consumed.

He wanted to buy it for his grandson Rikuo, knowing how much Rikuo was affected by not being able to unlock his yokai side.

With this potion, Rikuo could unlock his yokai side's full potential.
