Chapter 72: Forgotten House: House Of Dragon!

When Dumbledore announced that Leo would need to follow tradition and be sorted into a House, a flicker of curiosity sparked in Leo's mind.

With measured steps, he rose from his seat and made his way toward Professor McGonagall, who stood beside a three-legged stool.

Upon it sat an old, tattered hat, its fabric worn from centuries of use.

As Leo reached the stool, the once motionless hat suddenly twitched, as if waking from a deep slumber.

A tear near its brim widened, folds shifting to form a crude, expressive face.

Then, in a deep, gruff voice, it began to sing.

"Ah, another year, another song,

To sort you right where you belong!

So gather 'round, don't be afraid,

For I shall judge, and choices be made.

Four great founders built this school,

Each with a House, each with a rule.

Their values live, their spirits stay,

And I shall place you where you'll play..."

The Great Hall listened in rapt attention as the Sorting Hat continued its age-old song, detailing the virtues and legacies of the four Hogwarts Houses and their founders.

When the final verse echoed through the hall, a moment of silence followed before Dumbledore enthusiastically burst into applause, his eyes twinkling with amusement.

His clapping was soon joined by the other professors and the students, filling the hall with a crescendo of applause.

With the performance complete, McGonagall retrieved the Sorting Hat from the stool and gestured for Leo to sit.

Leo took his place, his expression calm, though inwardly, he remained curious about the outcome.

As she placed the ancient hat atop his head, McGonagall's lips twitched into a subtle smile, and for a brief moment, a glint of expectation shone in her sharp eyes.

Leo immediately understood—she expected him to be sorted into Gryffindor and seemed to firmly believe it.

The moment the Sorting Hat touched his head, a low, contemplative hum resonated in his mind.

"Hmm… now this is… quite interesting…"

The voice, ancient and wise, echoed within Leo's thoughts.

A smirk tugged at the corner of Leo's lips.

'So, even the Sorting Hat was intrigued by him? What would it decide?'

Leo's mind stirred as an unexpected series of notifications flashed before his inner eye.

[ Side Task Triggered... ]

A sense of curiosity surged within him as the system's voice echoed in his thoughts.

[ Side Task 2 → Forgotten House... ]

[ Task Description: The system has detected a lost House, once created in memory of their teacher, Archie Pendragon.

However, fate played a cruel game, and for centuries, no student has met the sorting conditions—until today.

With time, the House was buried and forgotten, erased from Hogwarts history. ]

[ Do you wish to be sorted into it? ]

[ Task Rewards:

✔ 10,000 Galleons

✔ Influence Over the Sorting Hat ]

[ Note: You have already met the condition, but the system has intervened to give you a choice. If you wish, the system can alter your fate, forcing the Sorting Hat to place you into another House. ]

Leo's fingers subtly twitched as he processed this information.

'A forgotten House?'

His heart pounded with anticipation.

If this was true… then he was about to become the first student in centuries to be sorted into something entirely unknown.

Would he embrace this lost legacy… or choose a path within the traditional four Houses?

"____"

Hearing the system's question in his mind, Leo thought about it for some time.

While he was thinking, the Sorting Hat became quiet, like some normal hat.

'If I choose the new house, that means things will be a little hectic for me, but the path will be broader. On the other hand, being sorted into an existing one means it will be easier, free from extra work, but the path will be too narrow.'

After contemplating for a few minutes, thinking about which path to choose, Leo narrowed his eyes and came to a conclusion.

Sigh~

'System, I choose to go to the Forgotten House.'

With a sigh, Leo decided he would not forcefully change the Sorting Hat's opinion, which was going to put him in a new house.

While Leo was contemplating whether he should change the hat's opinion or not, the Great Hall was silent,

and everyone's eyes were locked on the new professor and the Sorting Hat, which seemed to have stopped moving in silence.

They had heard that if the Sorting Hat took more time to sort someone into a house, it meant the wizard or witch in question must be a genius.

"My mother once said the longer the Sorting Hat takes, the more talented the wizard is… She said it took five and a half minutes to sort Professor McGonagall into Gryffindor,"

a Gryffindor seventh-year witch whispered to her friend beside her in a low voice.

The whole hall was murmuring and discussing this rare moment happening before them.

Huh~

After Leo confirmed he didn't want to forcefully change anything,

the Sorting Hat immediately came to its senses and let out a confused huh…

probably wondering if it had blacked out or if this was an illusion.

"Interesting… Who would have thought the legacy would have an heir after all these years… The House of Forgotten, which was once expected by the four founders to flourish…"

With a curious voice, the Sorting Hat spoke loudly, attracting everyone's attention in the hall.

This was quite uncommon for the Sorting Hat to do.

Usually, they would converse with the wizard or witch in their mind before announcing their house in a loud voice to the crowd in the Great Hall.

Upon hearing the Sorting Hat's words, even the professors became interested.

Glint~

Dumbledore adjusted his glasses while looking at Leo with a curious glint.

By his reaction, one could clearly tell he, too, wanted to know which house Leo would go to.

And he could also use it to judge Leo's character based on this.

But in his mind, Dumbledore was sure Leo would be in Slytherin, a guess based on his years of experience in judging others.

"Dragon!"

With a deep, excited voice, the Sorting Hat announced loudly.

"____"

Immediately, the Great Hall fell silent.

"Dragon?"

Almost instantly, many confused voices started to whisper among themselves.

Even the professors looked puzzled by the Sorting Hat's declaration.

The echoes of the ancient name reverberated against the stone walls.

A second of absolute silence.

Then—Gasps. Murmurs. Whispers.

"What?!"

"A fifth house?"

"I've never heard of it!"

"Dragon? There's no House called Dragon!"

"Is this a joke?!"

"Did the Sorting Hat just make a mistake?"

Students exchanged bewildered glances, their voices rising in confusion.

Even among the professors, expressions of disbelief spread.

McGonagall's brows knitted together, her lips parting in stunned surprise.

Flitwick's eyes twinkled with curiosity, his tiny fingers stroking his beard.

And at the centre of it all—Dumbledore, adjusting his glasses, the corners of his mouth twitching.

"Ah… a legacy thought lost, yet here we stand!"

The Great Hall fell dead silent once more.

"The House of Dragon—forged by the Four Founders in honour of Archie Pendragon, their beloved teacher and greatest sorcerer of his time.

A House meant for pioneers, for visionaries—for those who refuse to be confined by limits, who seek the unknown and challenge the impossible!"

The murmurs swelled again, students exchanging glances.

"But fate is a cruel mistress… For centuries, no one met its standards.

And so, the House was forgotten, its name lost in the pages of history.

Until now…"

The hat's voice lowered, becoming almost… reverent.

"Leo Morningstar… You are the heir to a legacy unseen for centuries.

The House of Dragon rises from the ashes."

"The House of Dragon is a house that represents strength, power, and ambition, with a great motto:"

With a nod, seeing that everyone was curious about the new house, the Sorting Hat began explaining its significance.

"Rise to the Heights of Glory

Strength in the Stars

Aspire Beyond the Boundaries

Relentless in Pursuit

By Fire and Fury, We Rise."

After explaining the House of Dragon, the Sorting Hat also sang its motto, its voice carrying through the Great Hall.

The professors who were listening gasped at the profound meaning behind the House of Dragon.

Kuku~

"Now, since the heir to the House of Dragon has finally arrived, students can be sorted into it along with the four other houses from this year onwards."

With a little chuckle, the Sorting Hat announced this, sending ripples of shock through all the students present.

"Senior students who believe they possess the qualities I mentioned earlier may step up. This is a very rare opportunity—one that will only be given once, not even in the future."

Shaking its head, the Sorting Hat spoke in a serious, gruff tone, emphasizing to the senior students the significance of this once-in-a-lifetime chance.

Something like this had never happened before, nor would it happen again.

This moment was bound to be etched in the history of Hogwarts as the birth of the House of Dragons.

With that, Leo took the Sorting Hat from the top of his head and handed it to Minerva, who

was still stunned by the events unfolding before her.

"What do you mean by changing houses, old hat?"

With a frown, Slughorn questioned the Sorting Hat, which was still in Minerva's hands.

"Right, Professor Slughorn… It is a rule set by the founders. If the House of Dragon ever

gains an heir in the future…"

With a calm nod, the Sorting Hat explained the special rule the founders had established for the House of Dragon—to restore balance if an heir were to appear.

"So, before we begin sorting the first years… let's see if any senior students wish to

change their house."

After answering Slughorn, the Sorting Hat turned toward the four house tables where the

senior students sat and addressed them.

"____"

A moment of silence washed over the Great Hall before it was broken by an intense wave

of chatter as students animatedly discussed the unexpected turn of events amongst

themselves.

After a few minutes of intense discussion, Headmaster Dumbledore stepped forward to

the owl podium to address the students.

"Students..."

He called out to them, but with all the noise, no one paid him any attention.

"Students!!!"

Using the Sonorus spell, he placed his wand on his vocal cords and called out loudly.

The sudden amplification sent shockwaves through the hall, and many students who had

been chatting just moments ago covered their ears due to the high volume.

Nod~

"Since it is a rule set by the founders… we need to respect it and follow through. So, are there any students interested in trying it out?"

Seeing that he had finally gained the students' attention, Dumbledore gave a satisfied

nod, thinking he should use Sonorus more often in the future.

With a gentle smile, he looked around, waiting for any student to step forward.

The hall fell silent.

Students glanced around, looking to see if any of their peers were interested in stepping

forward.

"I want to go."

The silence was broken by a sweet voice from the Slytherin table.

All eyes in the Great Hall, including the professors', turned toward the source of the voice, only to be shocked—it was none other than Narcissa Black from the infamous Black family.

"Narcissa, I know you're doing this just to make me happy because I love dragons. But there's no need to change your house just to please me."

Seeing his soon-to-be fiancée stepping forward, Lucius Malfoy spoke in a low voice, completely misunderstanding the situation.

"____"

Hearing Lucius' words, which clearly showed he had misunderstood, Narcissa's face darkened.

Without waiting for him to continue, she stood from her place and began walking toward the front.

After she took a seat on the stool, Minerva placed the Sorting Hat on Narcissa's head.

'Let's see how the influence on the Sorting Hat works…'

With a curious thought, Leo tried to influence the Sorting Hat, focusing on the idea that he wanted Narcissa Black to be sorted into the House of Dragon.

"House of Dragon!"

After a few seconds of silence, the Sorting Hat announced loudly.

As the words echoed through the Great Hall, the space between the four house tables suddenly expanded, revealing a widening gap that separated two tables on each side.

After a moment, a long house table, along with several seats, appeared in the space.

Usually, on top of each house table, several flags representing the respective house would be present.

But for the House of Dragon, a new flag materialized—a blend of blue and green, with teal accents, symbolizing depth, wisdom, and a connection to both intellect and ambition.

Its border gleamed with silver, adding a regal touch.

At the centre of the flag stood the House of Dragon's emblem—a majestic dragon, its scales intricately detailed, its fierce expression captured mid-motion.

The dragon was designed as if it were in pursuit of a single, radiant star, its jaws open, poised to swallow the glowing celestial body.

The star shone brightly against the darker, textured background of the symbol.

The dragon represented power, strength, and ambition,

while the star symbolized knowledge, purity, and the relentless pursuit of greatness.

Looking at the house flag and its symbolic meaning, Leo gave a contented nod in his mind.

Since the Sorting Hat had re-sorted Narcissa, a fifth-year student, into the House of Dragon, Minerva gave a wave of her wand. Instantly,

the green and silver of Slytherin on Narcissa's robes shifted to teal with silver accents.

The Slytherin crest embroidered on her robes morphed into the House of Dragon's emblem, a symbol of her new allegiance.

Sigh~

"Now, I can finally have peace away from that bastard."

Letting out a relieved sigh, Narcissa stood from the stool and strode toward the newly formed House of Dragon table, all while cursing Lucius Malfoy under her breath.

By her reaction, one could clearly tell how long she had been enduring the nonsense of the Malfoy heir.

Seeing Narcissa successfully re-sorted, many curious students from all four houses stepped forward, eager to try their luck.

Even Lucius Malfoy, who had just been brutally rejected before the Sorting Hat even touched his head, attempted to join.

However, many students were turned down by the Sorting Hat, stating that they did not possess the necessary qualities for the House of Dragons.

Surprisingly, some did make the cut.

Among them were:

8 seventh-year students, 12 sixth-year students, 8 fifth-year students, 4 fourth-year

students, 25 third-year students, 12 second-year students.

In total, 69 students were successfully re-sorted into the House of Dragon.

What surprised Leo was that this time, he didn't even use his influence—the Sorting Hat had made its decisions entirely on its own, following the will of the founders.

Since the Sorting Ceremony had taken longer than expected,

Minerva decided to skip her speech and immediately began calling the first-years by name, following the order on the list in her hand.

The sorting continued until it was Petunia's turn—this time, Leo used his influence to ensure she was placed in the House of Dragon.

"Dragon!!!"

The Sorting Hat exclaimed loudly, and the House of Dragon students erupted into enthusiastic applause, welcoming their newest addition.

Leo remained uninvolved for most of the first-year sorting—until it was Delphini Riddle's turn.

When her name was called, he once again used his influence, ensuring she would also be placed in his house.

By the time the Sorting Ceremony was completed, the House of Dragon had gained 25 first-year students.

Some of them were familiar faces—students Leo remembered from his shop,

where they had been accompanied by a professor during their visit to Diagon Alley.

With the new additions, the House of Dragon's total count rose to 94 members.

Although their numbers were smaller compared to the other houses, it was more than enough to establish and run the house without any issues.
