The Blacklist Hunter named Moses——
Anyone familiar with the name knows he's the youngest Single-Star Blacklist Hunter in history, and also knows that he has another title called Spider Slayer.
This rising star appeared out of nowhere three years ago and then vanished without a trace, sparking various theories.
The most popular theory suggested that Moses fell victim to revenge by the Phantom Troupe, leaving not a single trace of him behind.
The chubby examinee's name is Nicholas. As an amateur hunter who regards intelligence as a weapon, he is naturally aware of Moses's reputation and deeds.
After all, the Phantom Troupe incident, along with the news of his promotion to a Single-Star Pro Hunter, had stirred up a frenzy across numerous sites.
At this moment, hearing Killua asking him for information about Moses, Nicholas actually didn't mind pretending to investigate.
But who would have guessed that this simple inquiry would attract a dangerous figure!
Nicholas looked at Hisoka with horror on his face. Not only was he unable to speak clearly, his overweight body was shaking like a sieve, and signs of sweat began to appear on his face.
Having arrived late, Killua, Gon, Kurapika, and Leorio hadn't witnessed Hisoka's earlier attack on a examinee, nor did they have access to the information Nicholas possessed.
However, Nicholas's reaction was equivalent to sending them a message: This guy is dangerous!
The eyes of everyone present were involuntarily focused on Hisoka.
But Hisoka just stared at Nicholas, as if he was actually expecting Nicholas to help him find out any recent information about Moses.
Faced with the pressure of Hisoka's gaze, Nicholas's legs shook uncontrollably, his face drenched in sweat, and the laptop in his hands quivered violently.
"I-I'll check..."
Nicholas stammered, swallowing hard. Feeling faint, he sank to the floor, balancing the laptop on his knees as he opened it.
Nicholas had not paid much attention to Moses deeds before, and he only knew that he suddenly disappeared three years ago.
Now forced to investigate on the spot, Nicholas knew the likelihood of finding anything substantial was slim. But under Hisoka's gaze, he had no choice but to make the effort.
Hisoka narrowed his eyes and smiled. On the surface, he was patiently waiting for Nicholas to finish his investigation, but in fact, he was observing Killua and Kurapika subtly.
It was obvious that this fruit farmer, who had developed the habit of growing apples under Moses's encouragement, had become interested in Killua and Kurapika.
The reasons for his interest were simple enough.
First, Killua had mentioned Moses's name, and second, Kurapika had visibly reacted to hearing Moses's name.
That's all.
But, it could be said, his interest stemmed more from his fascination with Moses.
Both Killua and Kurapika kept a close eye on Hisoka. Meanwhile, Gon and Leorio looked confused.
This small group suddenly seemed out of place with the entire testing location.
Everyone had different thoughts, and only Nicholas was suppressing his emotions and typing on the keyboard.
'He vanished three years ago…how could any information still exist? For all we know, he's already died at the hands of the Phantom Troupe."
Nicholas was shouting in his heart, but his hands were typing frantically on the keyboard.
It seems that only in this way can he show that he is working hard on the investigation.
A few minutes later-
Feeling he'd done enough, Nicholas cautiously looked up at Hisoka's ever-present smile and hesitantly said: "The information I can find about Moses now is basically that he has died at the hands of the Phantom Troupe."
As soon as these words came out.
Hisoka's expression didn't change.
Killua rolled his eyes slightly.
A red glow quietly appeared in Kurapika's eyes.
Gon and Leorio still looked confused.
"That's just a rumor."
In a calm tone, Hisoka dismissed the information Nicholas had mentioned as mere gossip.
Killed by the Phantom Troupe?
Hisoka felt that's a pretty interesting statement.
After all, if Moses is truly dead...
Then the Phantom Troupe would likely wish they could revive him, just to kill him themselves.
After all, for the past few years, the Phantom Troupe's highest ambition had been to end Moses's life personally.
Especially the Phantom Troupe's leader, whom Hisoka had always wanted to fight, had spun a meticulous web, collecting abilities and intelligence to locate and kill Moses once and for all.
Of course, after disappearing for three years, it was plausible that something had happened to Moses.
But Hisoka could at least be sure that Moses did not die at the hands of the Phantom Troupe.
"A rumor…?"
Of course, Nicholas knew that the information he found hardly counted as intel, but he could only feign ignorance.
Hisoka never expected an outsider like Nicholas to unearth any valuable information. Instead, his attention shifted entirely to Killua and Kurapika, who seemed to have some connection to Moses.
Then he noticed the two people's reactions.
Both Killua and Kurapika showed a brief but shared look of disappointment. However, Killua's reaction was far more obvious, while Kurapika quickly concealed his own.
"Oh?"
But Hisoka had already caught the faint flash of red in Kurapika's eyes and instantly realized something.
'Interesting.'
A wider grin spread across Hisoka's face.
"LiLiLiLiLiLiLiLiLiLiLiLiLiLiLiLiLiLiLiLiLiLiLiLi-"
At this moment, a piercing sound echoed throughout the passage. Instantly, all the examinees turned toward the sound and saw a man standing atop a three-meter-high pipeline, holding a small puppet with its tongue sticking out.
That grating sound came from the puppet itself.
The man who had suddenly appeared was Satotz, the examiner responsible for the first phase of the Hunter Exam.
"Sign-in time is over."
Satotz announced, turning off the bell and gazing down at all the examinees below.
Without waiting for the examinees to react, he continued without hesitation: "The Hunter Exam officially begins now."
As soon as he said that, he floated down from above as if weightless.
"Please follow my lead."
Satotz first made a gesture pointing to the depths of the passage, then briskly stepped forward, walking deeper into the passage.
The examinees exchanged glances, and upon seeing Satotz disappear into the passage, they had no choice but to follow him.
Suddenly, the entire passage was filled with the sound of endless footsteps.
Seeing that the exam had officially started, Hisoka turned leisurely and strolled away.
"Phew-"
Seeing Hisoka turn around and leave, Nicholas let out a long, relieved sigh, and his whole body was soaked with sweat, as if he was exhausted.
Leorio finally couldn't hold back and asked, "Who is that guy?"
"All I know is that he killed many of his fellow examinees when he took the Hunter Exam last year," Nicholas explained as he struggled to stand, "and he could have easily gotten his Hunter License, but he severely injured an examiner for personal enjoyment, so he was disqualified."
Leorio's eyes showed a hint of shock, and he asked, "He seriously injured the examiner... Why is someone like that allowed to take the Hunter Exam again this year?"
Gon was similarly puzzled.
Kurapika, with his head slightly lowered, furrowed his brow in contemplation.
Killua remained calm, observing Hisoka's departing figure from a distance.
Each had a different reaction.
