The Legacy Tomb (1)

The Minotaur came back inside, and snapped his fingers. A portion of the floor descended to form a staircase. I marveled at the structural engineering, that was integrated with magic.

I then nodded at the Minotaur, and then descended down the stairs. When I reached at the end of the staircase, I saw a long dark path bounded by two walls at the sides, illuminated by lamps hanging from the walls.

Since I had to go back in time for my 15th Birthday, which was about 4 months away, I knew that I needed to hurry.

I dashed forward, my figure a blur, invisible to the naked eye.

But, the long corridor never seemed to end. I understood that this was probably a test of will.

On realising this, I dashed forward even faster as I was probably in an illusion, and aimed to break it by inputting power beyond its capacity.

I used a strategy I had devised to break out of such illusions. I prepared two beams of concentrated energy, and released it through one arm each. Then, I spun around as fast as I could, continuously. Suddenly, the atmosphere around me started to break apart like shards of glass. I put mana under my right foot, and then stamped down.

A Shockwave rippled around me, as I broke the illusion. All around me, shards of the illusion floated. Then, a system screen appeared in front of me, notifying me that I had passed the first test of will of the legacy tomb of the "Elemental Supremes". I was shocked, as the Elemental Supremes were the Supreme Ranks that were said to have originated from this world. The religions of this world were based upon them. In fact, some of the future Supreme-Rank powerhouses had obtained their powers from this very legacy tomb.

Then, all the pieces finally clicked in place.

When I had come to this place in my previous life, it was much later than now, and the place had already been raided by the people who acquired this legacy.

They made it seem like it was the legacy tomb of an ancient ancestor, and not of these Supreme beings.

Speaking of elements, there were 7 basic elements - Fire, Water, Earth, Wind, Light, Darkness, Celestial.

Each of them could eveolve into an Advanced Element.

Fire becomes Magma, Water becomes Ice, Earth becomes Bature, Wind becomes Lightning, Light becomes Life, Darkness becomes Death.

Other than these, there were also four lesser known elements, that were very rare to find in one person.

These were Space, Time, Creation, and Void elements.

A normal person had one elemental affinity.

A normal genius would have two affinities, a heavenly genius would have three, and a monster would have four. These monsters only appeared as one per universe.

Finally, the current Existence Rank Overseer had 5 affinities.

From these, two were hidden elements while the other three were Basic Elements.

While I was deep in thought, suddenly a flowery fairy appeared right in front of me. She said, "Congratulations on making it to the second test of this legacy tomb. While the test you gave was one of will, This second one is a test of strength." She waved her hand, and suddenly a portal appeared. She then told me to go through the portal in order to proceed with the next test. I stepped forward, going in through the portal.

In an obscure plane of existence, 7 wisps of energy floated. But then suddenly these wisps turned into beings resembling young and powerful men and women. One of them, completely made up of fire, said "The warrior going through the trial this time seems to be the strongest that has participated so far. Will we finally be able to pass on our legacies?"

The other being stayed deep in thought, contemplating this very question.

(Adrian's POV)

I appeared in a huge stadium that was similar to a coliseum. A booming voice rang out -

To pass this trial, you will have to defeat different elemental beasts.

Are you ready?

I mobilized my mana to my throat and shouted, "I wish to participate not for the legacy, but for the Books Of Comprehension".

The voice stayed silent for sometime before saying -

Your request has been accepted. You will have to go through two tests -

Show your fighting style and your mana control. If it is judged as good enough considering your rank, you will be able to acquire the Fabled Books Of Comprehension.

First, show your fighting style.

A sword will appear in front of you. It is a normal sword. Show your prowess using it.

I grinned after hearing what the voice said.

I picked up the sword, and held it beside me, with my right hand on the sword.

Then I relaxed every muscle in my body, and swing it upwards, vertically. I then brought it down, and swirled it around like a refined swordsman. After a few minutes of my sword dance, my fighting aura suddenly changed. From a calm and refined swordsman, I changed into a barbaric berserker.

My strikes were wild and ferocious, and even my weapon changed into an axe.

Then, my stance changed again. From a berserker, it became a mage's stance. My weapon changed into a staff with an elemental orb on top. The orb allowed me to use wind attribute mana even without having such an affinity. I unleashed sharp blades of wind that sliced through the sky, and strong gusts of wind that enhance my speed.

Then, from a mage standing in a singular place with my staff positioned above me, I adopted a priest's stance, light and darkness swirling around me, the light purifying and the darkness corrupting. My weapon became a sceptre. Suddenly, my appearance changed again. From a gentle priest, I became a rough beast tamer, forming beasts made out of mana, and controlling them, and even embodying them and their characteristics. Then, I suddenly melted into a black inky substance, seemingly disappearing and reappearing at random places. My weapons changed into two short daggers, seemingly made of shadows. And then I reached the final form of my stance, a reaper. My weapon became a perfect scythe made of energy that seemed to dance with the seams of reality.
