As it turns out, Bluebell was a childhood friend of Merwyn's.

As...much as fae could have childhood friends?

And apparently it was more like Bluebell was the child and Merwyn was the friend.

...The more Merwyn tried to explain it, the more Emily got confused.

But she had the sense that maybe...maybe what a fae considered 'childhood' would not be what a human would consider that.

Honestly, it would align with everything else.

In that it didn't align with human understanding or definitions at all and was hopeless to try to fully understand.

She knew fae grew in...

Some form.

But she didn't really understand how that was. Beyond something about their names changing?

Probably Merwyn called Bluebell a childhood friend not because it was strictly true, but because it was something she could kind of understand the implications of.

And here she was overthinking it after all.
