As they started walking toward the exhibit, Eleanor was sitting with Caeli while Emily and Reina were playing with a rabbit. Both of them held a carrot, offering it to the animal.
"Caeli, where were your parents?"
"My mom died. My dad, well, I hope he finds his own happiness now."
Eleanor was puzzled by her words. "You mean your father left you alone?"
Caeli could feel the judging tone from Eleanor, which made her frown. Even though she understood why Eleanor felt like that.
As a parent who does her best for her daughter and with her experience with her husband, it's not weird she has some prejudice in this kind of situation.
"It's not what you think, mom. My presence would just bring pain to his life."
