Aaliyah and Zara continued to impress in each subsequent round of the competition, steadily eliminating opponents with their remarkable skills.

Finally, they found themselves in the much-anticipated final round, facing off against each other. The atmosphere was charged with anticipation, the crowd buzzing with excitement as they waited to witness the clash between these two formidable archers.

Aaliyah focusing her gaze on the targets ahead. She could feel the weight of the moment, the adrenaline pumping through her veins. Zara stood opposite her, poised and determined, radiating an aura of confidence.

"May the best archer win," Zara said with a respectful nod toward Aaliyah.

Aaliyah nodded in return, a steely determination in her eyes. "Absolutely, Zara. Let's make this round unforgettable."

"I propose we make a bet," Zara said as she approached Aaliyah.

"Why not?" Aaliyah said confidently. She was always up for a challenge, and she liked the idea of adding some spice to the competition.

"It can't be something impossible," Aaliyah thought to herself, wondering what Zara had in mind.

"If I win, I want you to do everything I ask of you," Zara said with a big smile. She had a mischievous glint in her eyes, as if she had something planned for Aaliyah.

Aaliyah raised an eyebrow, intrigued by Zara's proposal. She wondered what Zara would ask of her, and whether she would regret agreeing to the bet. She also felt a surge of curiosity, wanting to know more about Zara and what made her tick.

"Yeah, why not, and if I win..." Aaliyah said, trying to think of something to ask Zara. She realized she didn't know much about Zara. She wanted to learn more about her background.

"I'll think of something later, for the moment, I don't know," Aaliyah finally said. She decided to leave it open-ended, hoping to come up with something interesting later.

"Deal," Zara said, shaking Aaliyah's hand. She felt a spark of excitement, looking forward to the outcome of the bet. She also felt a pang of affection, admiring Aaliyah's courage and spirit.

The rules were simple: each competitor would have five shots, aiming at increasingly challenging targets placed at varying distances. The pressure was palpable, but both contestants remained composed, ready to exhibit their exceptional skills.

Aaliyah drew her bow with practiced precision, releasing her first arrow. It soared through the air, landing right at the center of the bullseye. The crowd erupted into cheers, acknowledging her flawless shot.

Zara followed suit, displaying her remarkable abilities as her arrow hit the mark with equal precision, drawing admiration from the spectators.

The rounds continued, each shot showcasing the prowess of both archers. Aaliyah and Zara exchanged intense gazes, their mutual respect evident even in the midst of the fierce competition.

As the final round reached its climax, the last arrow was all that stood between Aaliyah and victory. With unwavering focus, she drew her bowstring, visualizing her target, feeling the tension build as she released the arrow.

It flew gracefully through the air, landing precisely at the center of the bullseye, a testament to Aaliyah's remarkable skill. The crowd erupted into thunderous applause, recognizing the incredible feat she had achieved.

Zara smiled warmly, genuinely impressed by Aaliyah's exceptional performance. "Congratulations, Aaliyah. You truly deserve this victory." then whispered in her ear, "Come with me, I've got something to show you."

She took Aaliyah's hand and led her away from the cheering crowd, towards a secluded spot in the forest. They stopped under a big tree and Zara sat down on the grass, gesturing for Aaliyah to join her.

"This is what you wanted to show me, a tree?" said Aaliyah, a little disappointed. She had expected something more exciting, something more special. It was just a tree, like any other.

Zara chuckled and shook her head. "No, silly. I just wanted to get away from all these people. They're so noisy and annoying. Don't you think?" She looked at Aaliyah with a big smile, but there was something else in her eyes. Something dark and mysterious.

Aaliyah felt a chill run down her spine. She sensed that Zara was not as friendly as she seemed. She tried to get up, but Zara grabbed her arm and pulled her closer. "And you wouldn't want me to tell the others that you're a demon, or rather half-demon, would you?" said Zara, her voice low and menacing.

Aaliyah gasped. How did Zara know her secret?

"I don't know what you're talking about," said Aaliyah, lying to herself and to Zara. She hoped that Zara was bluffing, that she had no proof of her claim.

Zara smirked and snapped her fingers. Aaliyah felt a jolt of pain in her head, as if someone had ripped off a mask from her face. She looked at Zara and saw her own reflection in her eyes. She saw her red eyes and her two small horns on her forehead, the marks of her demonic heritage.

Aaliyah took a step back, trying to escape from Zara's grasp. "How did you do that?" she said, a little panicked.

Zara shrugged and smiled. "Don't worry, I don't intend to do anything to you. Well, not yet, anyway. But you could be useful to me," she said, beckoning Aaliyah to come and sit down beside her. Aaliyah hesitated, but she felt a strange pull towards Zara, as if she had no choice but to obey her.

Aaliyah reluctantly sat down next to Zara, feeling uneasy and confused. "I don't understand," she said. "What do you want from me? Who are you?"

Zara leaned in and whispered in her ear, "I'm a princess, my dear. Well, I may never get to the throne of Larcin, but I'm still a princess. And you're a half-demon, a rare and powerful creature. Do you see the connection?"

Aaliyah shook her head. She didn't see anything, except that Zara was crazy and dangerous. She thought of a way to get rid of her, to kill her and run away. She could use her magic, or her strength She could end this nightmare and forget about Zara.

But Zara seemed to read her mind. She tightened her grip on Aaliyah's arm and said, "I don't know what you're thinking, Aaliyah, but know one thing. If I die, they'll find the person who killed me. And they'll make them pay. You don't want to mess with the royal family of Larcin, trust me. They're ruthless and cruel. And they have eyes and ears everywhere."

Aaliyah felt a surge of fear and that she had put herself in a dangerous situation, by befriending her and revealing her secret. She wondered what Zara had planned for her, and what she could do to escape.

"Well, I'm listening. What should I do?" said Aaliyah, a little disturbed. She hoped that Zara would let her go, or at least give her a chance to prove herself.

Zara smiled and said, "It'll be to your advantage, of course. I'll give you a new home, a new life. You won't have to hide anymore, or live in fear. You'll be free and happy. And you probably want what's best for your big sister, don't you?" Aaliyah felt a pang of guilt.

Zara nodded and said, "I know everything about you, Aaliyah. I've been watching you for a long time. I know where your sister is, and how to kill her."

Aaliyah felt a mix of curiosity and dread. She felt trapped and helpless. She knew that Zara had the upper hand, and that she had no choice but to agree.

"It's not as if I'll have the choice to refuse," said Aaliyah, sighing. She resigned herself to her fate, hoping that it would not be too bad.

Zara clapped her hands and said, "That's the spirit, Aaliyah. I'm glad you're being reasonable. Well, I'd like you to be my bodyguard. You see, I have a lot of enemies, and I need someone to protect me. Someone strong and loyal and brave. Someone like you."
