Chapter 3

The foster family and Jane got out of the car when Jane saw where they were she paused. "Where are we?" Xavier asked. "Jane said she used to eat out at diners once, so I thought we'd all give it a try," Harper told him. Jane did recall saying that however, she did not tell them why she stopped. The last memories of diners weren't very pleasant, she knew she was going to have a difficult time being at ease.

After walking in the four sat at a table, needing more room for Jane. "I'll get a…" "Excuse me, I need to wash up," Jane interrupted and walked to the restroom. "I'm not the only one who saw that right?" Jess asked. Omar and Xavier looked at her puzzled. Harper looked in the direction Jane left with concern.

Jane was leaning over the bathroom sink sweating, feeling extremely dizzy and weak. She took out the bag of pills and swallowed two. After a few minutes, she stopped sweating and was no longer dizzy or weak. As she walked out, she saw someone that reminded her of the things that happened back then. She saw the man talking to Jess, while she was trying to order something. Jane waited until Jess was walking back to her table. She walked past the man, purposely avoiding eye contact. She didn't want him to recognize her. Jane reached the table and sat in the seat Jess had put for her.

"We didn't know what you wanted to order so we ordered for you, is that okay?" Harper asked, making sure Jane was okay. "I guess.... sure," Jane said, unsure of how to answer properly. Jane looked outside the window, got up, and out the door. "What's wrong?" Jess asked; however, Jane was already out the door. The family followed and there they saw what Jane was looking at. Their family car, with the word 'cheater' written on the side of it.

They were all on their way home in that car, they had called the police, but the police told them that there is only so much they can do. Which meant they couldn't do anything, without any more information.

Later that day, Jane decided to do some digging around for herself. While Harper was distracted in the kitchen, Jane took the opportunity to check her phone. She had already known Harper's phone would be unlocked. She had been perceptive of who had passwords and who didn't. She even knew what their passwords were. Harper was the only one who didn't, everyone else had their private secrets. As she suspected, nothing was on her phone. Now she had to check Omar's, she was a bit worried. Mainly for Harper's sake, she didn't want Harper to get hurt. Jane then thought to herself, why should she care, she's not her family.

After looking through his phone she discovered the truth. He has been having an affair with another woman. She sent pictures of their conversation to her private phone and then deleted the contact. Harper had given Jane a phone so that all the family members and her, would be able to contact each other. However, Jane had one of her own for all her previous contacts.

She decided to track down the origin of these messages, so she took the phone to her hideout. She plugged it into her computer and started hacking the signal. She found out the house was not too far from where she was. She was able to return his phone before he knew it was out of the house.

Jane goes to the woman's house and looks around. To prevent her from finding out Jane's identity she wore a black hoodie with gloves and sunglasses. Jane found photos of the two of them together that the woman had taken in secret when Omar was asleep. Jane was on her way out when a man walked into the house, she acted quickly and hid in the bedroom. Jane watched for a minute, she noticed he had a ring on his left ring finger. She then realized that Harper wasn't the only one who was going to get hurt in this situation. She then quickly left through the window, making sure she closed it behind her.

She was now back at her hideout making copies of the photos she found. Jane was conflicted about how she should deliver the news. Originally, she was planning to deliver the photos in an envelope and leave them only places Harper and the husband would find. However, she was starting to doubt that idea.

It was already the weekend, and the family and Jane were at the diner once again. Everything was running smoothly until Jess excused herself to use the restroom. When she was returning, the man from the last time began to approach her. He was having a conversation with her, Jane instantly noticed that Jess was visibly uncomfortable and got up.

Jane approached the man and asked," Hey, what's going on?" "It's been a while, guess you forgot how I run things. I'll give you a pass if you leave now " he told her. "Well, I'm not leaving without her." That angered him even more, he walked right in Jane's face and said," Last chance kid." "No." At this point, Xavier took the chance to get Jess, and Omar was behind Jane. "Maybe we should leave Jane," Omar said, trying to de-escalate things. "Looks like my son was right, you and those girls deserved what he did to you all," he said then walked out. Jane couldn't handle her rage anymore and went after him. Omar, Jess, Xavier, and Harper ran after Jane. "YOU'RE A MONSTER!!" Jane yelled at him, making him pull out his knife and stab her left shoulder. "JANE!" Jess cried out; however, Jane ignored her. Jane responded by landing a right hook to his face. He fell and she kept punching him in the face with her anger. Everyone just watched not knowing what to do. Eventually, Jane's adrenaline ran out and she passed out from the amount of blood lost.

Jane was struggling to open her eyes but when she did, she was back in a familiar place. It was a dark room, but she saw she had an IV sticking into her wrists. She knew exactly what was happening. She struggled to get up, she had been tied to the hospital bed she was lying in. She made a stronger struggle to loosen herself, but someone came in. It was a man; he was wearing a lab. He walked up to her and changed the IV bag that was attached to the tubes. However, the bag did not have a clear liquid, it was green. "I'm sorry about this, I did reduce the dosage since your body is already used to the larger one. You should be able to escape in a few hours. For now, you have to go back to sleep," he said, and she listened to him and fell asleep.
