Two choices. Each with its own pro's and con's. What was he going to choose? Did he even have to?
He wanted to though. Maybe he should choose one path. But he was curious about both paths. The path of an emissary was alluring; treacherous and filled with peril but the promises it held were alluring. The opposite path was not as inviting, it appealed to a part of him however. Deep inside, he wanted to walk the Nether unburdened by the weight of servitude. Unbothered by the lack of free will, left to choose how his final days would be like.
To cease to exist resonated with his dying wish, to become capable of shaping his own path resonated with the dreams he held while he still lived. The weights were on the scale and the cogs of his mind turned as the scale swayed to the currents of his emotions that fueled his decision.
The pit of his stomach didn't resonate with either choice. His gut told him that was not all there was to it.
"Are those my only options?" he asked on a whim.
"I am surprised." she responded with visible admiration for the young man's deduction. And Michael under her gaze flinched. "There is a third option."
He felt himself relax and a silent sigh escaped his lips. So his gut feeling was not wrong. In all truth he didn't want to give up the strength his path as an emissary promised, but he still didn't want to commit to that path either.
"However, I can't enforce that third option. You would need to meet with the legacy again."
Michael frowned, the gleam in his eyes dissapearing. Of course it was not going to be an easy third option. He wanted to know the details of it however, to learn how much of a sacrifice this third option was. And Galia indulge his silent question.
"It's to do with the merge. As I see it, for some reason, the Legacy has been lending you a hand, in due time you will understand why I say this. So if my assumption is correct, then I believe they will be generous enough to indulge you with the third option. I will warn you, the first two were better options. The third is... extreme and makes your life harder, but the end result is ten times more lucrative than what you would get from either option."
Michael listened in silence as he weighed the implication of her words against the other two options. Luckily, she did not say he had to make a choice immediately, he could wait until he heard from the legacy and make his decision then.
"If and when you meet the legacy, you will have to make your decision then. Unlike me, the Legacy may not be as... welcoming of your silence. When you sing them out, then they demand an answer. The consequences of doing anything but are only known by them."
This was his moment, after weeks of being in the dark, he finally had a chance to once again meet with the one who brought all this upon him. Maybe he could even inquire of his true role, get a glimpse of the reason behind his being picked as a candidate. He wanted to accept this power but the uncertainty and void of information that surrounded him was a hindrance to him making this decision.
"I will meet with the legacy first." he said and Galia got up. In the next minute, almost instantly, Michael found himself back in the void of his soul with Galia standing next to him. He was startled, befuddled by how fast they had moved back into the void.
"Are you ready to meet them now, or do you want to wait and prepare?"
What preparations were there to make? If he delayed this meeting, it would only gnaw at him and make him more anxious it was better now when his heart beat wildly with anticipation and his mind was clear on his goal.
"Let's do it"
"We- are not doing anything, you are. Now get into a comfortable position."
Galia said and after a brief pause, Michael got into the lotus position, his heartbeat wild and loud.
"I will help you feel for the connection to the legacy, then you will call them forth" she spoke with finality disallowing Michael the luxury of satiating his curiosity.
Her warm hand lay on Michael's forehead and her other on his chest. They both felt warm. It was similar to when he had been with Caster in the clearing but also different. Unlike before, now the warmth he felt was coming from within him. Galia was drawing out something from inside him. He assumed this was what she meant by helping him feel the connection so he promptly concentrated on the sensation.
A ringing reached his ears, a harmony was birthed from it. Sweet and melodious entwined with dark and sinister. It was like he had heard during his awakening but different. A golden glow illuminated from the inside of Michael and spread out around them growing in intensity. The surface of the void turned tumultuous and the darkness of it restless as the red of his soul surged and pooled beneath where he sat turning into a glowing crimson carpet.
Dark purple shadows rose and fell like waves in the sea as the melody that rang in his ears echoed through the void like a choir of the most beautiful orchestra. It was marvelous and breath, loud and alluring drawing Michael into a trance as he trained his focus to amplify the voice.
A golden strand of energy flowed from him and glided to his soul, then, it plunged deeper into the figurine that lay at the heart of his soul core. It had a human appearance and it was the size of a young boy.
Deep in his soul core, two golden orbs shone as the thing opened it's eyes. Michael felt his consciousness drift and his mind being pulled through a tunnel of light and into a vast expansive white emptiness.
