BETTER THAN YOU

CHAPTER 46 - BETTER THAN YOU

Some weeks later, McCarthy was discharged from the hospital. He had heard what Veronica had said, but it seemed like a dream to him. However, that wasn't his focus; his son was. He remembered the first time he met him, and his mother who claims to be just a sister.

He had not found Olivia for the past weeks, whether she was dead or not, he didn't know but he knew that she was safe with her father.

"Why are you so quiet?" Matilda asked, noticing McCarthy lost in reminiscence. As he pondered whether Franklin was truly his son, Matilda interrupted, "By the way, there's something you need to know."

"What is it?" he asked, still fixated on the image of his father hanging on the wall. He leaned in, avoiding eye contact with his mother, his anger towards her still smoldering.

"Do you trust your friend?" she whispered softly, brewing up trouble. Matilda took his hand gently and drew closer to him.
