The Promise

"Everything's been checked and ready. Do you want to make any changes?"

The question came with a tone more serious than usual, as Dani stood waiting for his best friend to review everything one last time on the tablet in his hands.

"Hmm… yeah, everything looks good. My decks are all set. I’ll leave the rest to you."

With that, Joke handed the tablet back while simultaneously passing over his ID slot, which had been preloaded with all 50 cards he would be using in the competition. Taking the crucial item into his possession, Dani let out a long sigh.

"Damn, the tournament’s already here. Feels like there wasn’t enough time to prepare."

"We did everything we could. The rest is just up to how things play out," Joke replied with a grin, reaching out to pat his friend on the shoulder—a silent gesture of gratitude for the exhausting week of preparation they had just endured.

"But seriously, are you really going like that?"
