The Final Bottom Line

Emma Hart glanced at Mrs. Harris, trying her best not to put her in a difficult position. "It's the manager from where I work. I can put it on speaker."

Answering the call, Emma was immediately met with a barrage of reproaches. "Emma Hart, you've been absent for three days now! We're severely understaffed, and everyone's swamped. Our store isn't a charity organization, and you can't just come and go as you please!"

"I'm really sorry, Manager. I've had some issues to deal with. Please, could you give me a little more time? I promise I'll be back at work in a few days," Emma pleaded, her voice tinged with desperation.

Her other two jobs had already dismissed her over the past couple of days. 

This was her last remaining job, and it paid well. Losing this job would be disastrous...
