Not So Dramatic

Emma Hart nodded; with nothing much to do that afternoon, she decided to water all the flowers, a pleasant way to pass the time.

 

Damien Sterling's gaze swept over those around him, causing the men in black to instinctively lower their heads.

 

"Such tasks can be delegated to them in the future."

 

Emma noticed the men's discomfort and defended them, "It was my choice to water them."

 

"I'm not supporting them for nothing," Damien said sharply, his attractive peach blossom eyes flashing. "That includes you."

 

Her? What did she have to do with this? She never asked for his support. He seemed to be mistaken; it was he who insisted on her staying.

 

Mrs. Harris, sensing Emma's urge to speak, quickly interjected, "Sir, we'll be more careful in the future."

 

With Mrs. Harris's timely intervention, Emma felt an unresolved tension.
