Just Wanting to Hold Breath

Damien Sterling watched Emma Hart closely, but she still struggled to eat much. 

In the end, Damien didn't push her too hard. In fact, when Emma was having a hard time eating, Damien took the spoon from her hand.

"If you can't eat, then don't."

Emma was taken aback, not expecting Damien to be so reasonable. She looked at the dishes on her plate, recalling Damien's words about the child in her belly needing nourishment.

Even though Damien across from her had already stopped urging her to eat, Emma still picked up the spoon and took a few sips of soup. After realizing she truly had no appetite, she finally put the spoon down.

Damien saw this, recognizing her stubbornness. It seemed she was determined to oppose him; the more he asked her not to do something, the more she insisted on doing it. 

If that was the case, he thought, perhaps he should start doing the opposite of what he actually wanted.
