[Volume 1] Chapter 18- Spilt up

Hearing the village chief's voice, a hush fell over the crowd as all eyes turned towards him.

"Aunt Su, Jiho's words ring true; she has no reason to lie," Aunt Su caught the subtle signal from the village chief.

"Okay, if she was not lying, where did the money go, huh? People also find it reasonable.

'Yes, it was twenty tales, not a small sum. How can it be spent so easily?' Then they looked at Jiho.

Even though she lacked a motive, Jiho couldn't provide proof for her claims.

'Hah, I know this won't be easy,' Jiho's lips twitched knowingly.

A sudden thump echoed through the air.

"Village chief, I swear to heaven I gave them 20 coins. If I'm lying, let lightning strike me," Jiho declared, kneeling and extending three fingers towards the sky.

Her words stunned the onlookers.

"But I never said I gave the money to Aunt Du," villagers were confused again.

"I said I gave twenty coins to my husbands," hearing this, everyone's attention turned to Su brothers, who suddenly got attention again.

'W...w..what, how can you,' Mers stammered and glared at her.

'What? It's not like I am lying,' Jiho retorted, glaring at the Mers who were looking at her.

Getting everyone's attention, they gritted their teeth and changed back to their weak selves.

"I..it's true that Aunt Su did not take our money," hearing their words, people were shocked. 'Does this mean Aunt Su is telling the truth?'

"See.." Aunt Su happily shouted but interrupted by their voice again.

"The money was stolen by Uncle Su," as they shouted, making everyone dumbfounded.

'What?' Suddenly everyone's attention turned to Daddy Su.

"Wha..you bastard, how dare you lie.." as he raised his hand to hit them but stopped, suddenly someone grabbed his hand.

"What..you let go," as he shouted and struggled to break free, but the grip tightened more.

Crack

"Ahhhhhhh, it's hurt."

"Who gave you the courage to raise your hands on my husbands," Jiho's face turned black as she looked down on Daddy Su, who was screaming in pain on the ground. Aunt Su, who saw her husband like this, came running toward him and helped him into her arms.

"Scholar Li," the village chief shouted, making everyone tremble.

"I am not deaf; you can talk normally," as Jiho glared back, making the village chief shudder.

"You..."

"You guys haven't finished yet," ignoring the village chief, she looked at Su brothers. Suddenly seeing this, they came to realization and felt a bang in their hearts.

"I..it's true that Daddy Su took money and..." As they bit their lips, making it more exciting.

"And..giving it to his secret lover who lives in the county town."

"What.." Everyone was shocked, but after thinking for a while, they remembered how Daddy Su went to the county town every two days, making it suspicious.

"You..you are lying," Aunt Su shouted. She also thought it looked reasonable but didn't want people to know. Still, catching Jiho's glare, she shut up.

"Tell more," hearing Jiho's words, Mers continued.

"In the county town when I went to sell wild fruits, I saw Daddy Su meeting a man. After I asked nearby people, they told me Daddy Su always visits a courtesan Jiao and even gives him money," as Blue Hair Mers bowed his head.

"He ...he..lying..wife, believe me," Daddy Su stuttered and sweated; his forehead had already told everything.

Smack

"You Bastard, how dare you," Aunt Su slapped him and started to beat him. After a while, she glared at Blue Hair Mers, 'how dare he... when I get my hands on you, I will kill you.'

Seeing Aunt Su, Blue Hair Mers trembled and hugged his brothers, but suddenly he could not see Aunt Su. When he looked forward, he saw a firm back protecting them, and they already knew who it was without even looking at the face.

"Village chief please.." Jiho looked at the village chief who tremble but still regained his demeanor.

'this girl is really dangerous'.

'Just do it fast or...' a cold smirk formed on her face, making the village chief shudder.

"Very well, it's proven that Scholar Li speaks the truth, and Aunt Li was lying," the village chief announced as whispers rippled through the crowd once again.

"I knew it, the Su family is so evil, even trying to sell someone's husbands to an old lady," one villager exclaimed.

The villagers' whispers grew louder, and Jiho, observing it all, curled her lips in mockery. 'Hah, I knew it. These villagers are selfish. Just because Su brothers aren't beautiful and rich, they don't care who marries them. Not even one of them thought maybe I am lying.'

"Enough, from hearing both parties, it's clear that the Su couple lied and indeed took money from Scholar Li. So, Su brothers will go to Li's house and be husbands to Scholar Li," the village chief declared, attempting to leave, but a voice interrupted him.

"Village chief, do you think it's enough?" Jiho asked in a firm tone.

"I don't understand what you mean, Scholar Li," the village chief said, forming an even deeper frown.

'This girl always wants to bring more trouble.'

"Village chief, do you think I need justification to take my husbands?" Village chief looked at her in confusion.

"No, I can take them whenever I want. But what needs to be clear is Madam Su and her husbands tried to sell my husbands and even insulted me. Don't you think that needs justification?"

"Fine then, tell me what you want," the village chief stared at Jiho; if it was someone else, they might be scared because breaking ties from the family means falling out from villagers, but for Jiho, it doesn't matter.

"Village chief, you already know what is the punishment for insulting a scholar."

'It's true that insulting a scholar is a crime. These guys...' then he glared at Aunt Su.

"As we are a family now, I don't need much. I just don't want to have any connection with them," hearing her words, everyone was shocked.
