"ack",Malia's heart raced as the echo of a loud shout pierced the eerie silence of the empty house. Startled, she abandoned her inspection of the room and hurried towards the source of the sound.

As she approached the room where the shout originated, a pungent odor assaulted her senses, causing her to instinctively cover her nose with the sleeve of her shirt.

Even before she reached the doorway, the smell of pig poop hit her like a wave, overwhelming and unmistakable.
