Charlotte's POV
PRESENT DAY
It was visiting day, and I was eagerly anticipating my sister's arrival. She couldn't bring my nephews to a place like this, and of course I understood her reluctance. I honestly didn't want them to know that this was where I was spending my days. But I was lucky that I got to see her, and she brought with her news of the outside world.
"Char, I've missed you," she exclaimed, and enthusiastically enfolded me in her embrace, "You look better since the last time I saw you! What happened? Are you eating better, I hope?" My sister really did love me. She always worried about my health, and given that both of our parents had passed from cancer when we were so young, that made sense.
I was perfectly healthy in every way, it was just that no one believed me. So I decided to do my hair, fix my makeup, and generally make more of an effort. It seemed to be working, which pleased me. Perhaps there was hope for me to get out of there yet!
