Chapter 50: Real People

Charlotte's POV

I was determined to figure this out before my two day deadline. Our two day deadline. I texted Neil immediately, asking him to meet me, but I got no response. That really wasn't surprising, as Neil almost always texted me first to set up our dates. In fact, when I thought about it, I realized that I had never initiated a meeting. He always decided when we would see each other.

Not this time. I had a pretty good idea of where Neil was anyway. There was a bar close to the paper, "The Place". Neil had mentioned that he liked to go there for a beer after work, so it seemed like a good place to find him. As it turned out, I was right. I found him easily.

He was passionately kissing a woman in the parking lot. When he turned to look at me, his face paled. Neil whispered something unintelligible to his companion, a pretty auburn haired woman around my age, and she went into the bar. Presumably to wait for him.
