Chapter 46: The Harsh Mrs. Lin

"Ye Tian, your hospitalization fee is about to expire. In the special care ward of the hospital, you must pay the fee in advance. Before, we made an exception for you because of your financial situation. But now, the special care ward is overcrowded. If your sister wants to continue staying, you must pay the fee in advance."

After saying this, Director Lu couldn't hide a smug expression on his face, thinking confidently that he could handle even a poor loser. These days, even doctors are being defied; some people must be tired of living.

"How come I never heard of such a rule in your hospital before?" Ye Tian frowned, his tone slightly angry.

"It's a new rule. Given the recent tightness in the special care ward, it's to prevent some people from delaying payment due to lack of funds," Director Lu replied smugly, looking at Ye Tian disdainfully.

Just a poor loser, he thought. As a chief physician of the hospital, he wasn't afraid of dealing with him.

"My sister will be discharged in a few days, so there's no need to pay in advance. Director Lu, please leave and don't disturb my sister's rest," Ye Tian said coldly. He already decided to discharge his sister. Why would he pay the fee for a service they wouldn't use?

"You..." Director Lu was taken aback by Ye Tian's response and said angrily, "Your sister has a terminal illness. Planning to discharge her just to stay a few more days in the special care ward? Don't you plan to treat her?"

"That's none of your concern. There are other hospitals in Yangcheng."

Ye Tian remained unshaken. He already had a treatment plan for Ye Xi and wasn't foolish enough to reveal it.

Mrs. Lin, who was already in a bad mood and insisted on staying in the special care ward to save face, got angry upon seeing Ye Tian's disrespect.

"So, you're Ye Tian, right? Director Lu suggesting you move to the general ward is for your own good. With your financial situation, how long can you afford the special care ward? Director Lu is a chief physician. It's easy for him to deal with two poor people like you."

"What did you just say? Say it again!"

Ye Tian's gaze turned icy, fixating on Mrs. Lin.

Her words were a clear threat. In a hospital, slight negligence by a chief physician could spell disaster for patients.

It was one thing to be verbally harsh and act like a nouveau riche, but threatening him using Ye Xi was something Ye Tian

couldn't tolerate.

Ye Tian's icy stare frightened Mrs. Lin, causing her to step back. Realizing her loss of face, she became furiously embarrassed and pointed at Ye Tian, shouting:

"So what if I said it? What do you think you are? Just two poor people. You can't even afford the hospital fees and dare to offend the doctor. Director Lu could easily end your sister's life."

Upon hearing this, Ye Tian was stunned, thinking that she must have a grudge against Director Lu. This was practically setting the director up. Not only Ye Tian, but even Director Lu himself turned pale. Their argument had already attracted attention, with several nurses peeking from the doorway.

In such a situation, Mrs. Lin's words could ruin his reputation.

"Anyone who spreads word of today's incident will be immediately fired!"

Glaring at the nurses at the door, Director Lu waved them away, wishing he could grind Mrs. Lin into the ground for being such a terrible ally.

However, he didn't say anything. After all, he still needed something from Mrs. Lin's husband. Besides, those were not his words. Even though he thought the same, he could always deny it. You can't blame him for a few words from Mrs. Lin.

Seeing Ye Tian stunned, Mrs. Lin thought her words had an effect and became even more arrogant, continuing to berate him:

"Don't think changing hospitals will help. You, a bottom-dweller, don't understand connections. I can make your life miserable in Yangcheng, no matter how many hospitals you transfer to. Now, move to the general ward quickly, and consider the money on the bed a reward for you."

Unaware of Ye Tian's growing anger, she spoke condescendingly, but her abusive language was the last straw for Ye Tian, who finally lost his patience and slapped her.

Although he didn't use much force, for an ancient martial artist like him, even a restrained slap was powerful.

Mrs. Lin was knocked to the ground, her face quickly reddening with a handprint. She hadn't expected Ye Tian to actually strike her. Dumbfounded for a moment, she got up and charged at Ye Tian like a shrew:

"You dare hit me! You despicable lowlife, do you know who I am? How dare you hit me! I'll fight you!"

"If you don't want the other side of your face slapped, stay quiet!" Ye Tian said coldly, raising his hand.

Mrs. Lin stopped in her tracks, her expression uncertain. She wanted to curse, but seeing Ye Tian's unyielding stance, she swallowed her words.

Turning to Director Lu, she said, "Director Lu, he dared to hit someone in your hospital. Aren't you going to have the security throw him out?"

Director Lu was pondering how to deal with Ye Tian, especially since he couldn't just move him to a general ward. Seeing Ye Tian's actions, he said:

"Mr. Ye, this is a hospital. You can't disrupt the order

here by hitting people. We can't accommodate someone like you. Please leave with your sister. We will refund the remaining hospital fees."

"I'm disrupting the order? What about her insults to the patients just now? Why didn't you intervene?" Ye Tian retorted, sneering inwardly. He was innocently embroiled in this situation. If it weren't for Director Lu taking bribes to vacate a special care room for Mrs. Lin, none of this would have happened.

But since they targeted him, Ye Tian was not about to back down easily.
