Chapter 4: Breaking Out of Captivity Together

Chase led Sirin smoothly to the lower levels, but before they could exit, his expression turned somewhat grim.

[Your jailbreak plan has been discovered. Despite the 'Tower' staff being in chaos, it doesn't prevent them from deducing the fact that someone is breaking out through the doors of two open test subjects' rooms. They are communicating with the guards, asking them to guard the main gate.]

"Don't move!"

Several heavily armed guards quickly descended from above, staring at Chase and Sirin with a threatening posture, ready to shoot at the slightest provocation.

Well, Chase did underestimate the 'Tower's' reaction speed.

He had already diverted these personnel through communication, but they came back so soon. The 'Tower's' reaction was faster than he expected.

But who could blame him? The Babylon Tower was so high, and just taking the elevator from the control room to the lower level took some time.

The release of the tactical mech directly alarmed the researchers. Perhaps the commotion was too significant, or perhaps the researchers had tight security measures on this mech, triggering an alarm as soon as it was released?

However, it wasn't the time to think about all that. Dealing with the heavily armed guards in front of him was the most pressing issue for Chase now.

Chase's escape required time, and the researchers needed time to restore the system. Now that Chase had left the control panel, he couldn't defend against or counterattack the researchers' operations. He couldn't guarantee how long his remaining tricks would hold.

The current approach required the use of these remaining tricks.

Facing those fierce guards, Chase didn't hesitate. He immediately lunged towards Sirin, and the two of them hid behind a nearby metal pillar.

Soon after, the roar of bullets, like a hissing serpent, followed, producing intense screams in their ears.

"Sirin, don't move!"

Chase didn't have time to pull Sirin up from the ground. He quickly manipulated the smartwatch he had taken and pressed a series of buttons.

The next moment, with a "boom," the originally tightly closed main gate deformed and exploded after another loud noise.

A silver mech appeared at the entrance, emitting a blue light. The entire silver-blue body, robust and powerful, looked terrifying under the moonlight.

The G-12 Tactical Mech prototype immediately took action the moment it appeared, launching an attack on the guards who were still stunned from the surprise.

Dense bullets, like a storm, carrying massive energy and speed, poured down on the guards.

In an instant, after a burst of smoke, the guards fell to the ground one by one, motionless.

Seeing this scene, Chase breathed a sigh of relief. He looked at Sirin, who was still a bit dazed on the ground, and said with a smile:

"Sirin, let's go."

The girl nodded silently, took her brother's hand, and looked at the colossal machine in front of her, somewhat overwhelmed. Unconsciously, she shrank her head and moved behind Chase.

Chase patted Sirin's head to comfort her, then looked at the machine not far away.

"Authentication successful. Welcome, Chase, Sirin."

"Chase, this is your weapon."

This was the command Chase had given when infiltrating the mech system, requesting the opponent to grab a set of advanced weapons during the release.

"Look, comrades." Chase took the box and pulled out two pistols, smiling at the girl. She curiously peeked out to look at the mighty mech.

Luck was good; it was the "Hammer of Thor," part of the "God's Throne" series developed by Destiny using "Soul Steel." It stored a large amount of Honkai Energy Particles, which, when activated, could manifest powerful energy blocks, bringing down the wrath of the thunder god on enemies.

[Thor's Hammer (Mjolnir) was one of Kiana's signature weapon. It is also the signature weapon used by God of War Ares when the Awaken function is added to AresAttack.]

Of course, this was the description of the weapon by the Weapons Department. The actual performance remained to be seen in combat.

However, Chase didn't hope to have the chance to use it. At the moment he picked up the dual pistols, an unusual sensation surged through his palm. Looking at the pistols in his hands, he could sense the violent Honkai Energy within. He understood that his "Honkai Energy Adaptability (Blue)" could not fully adapt to this level of Honkai Energy erosion. Excessive use might lead to Honkai Disease reactions in his body.

"Order: After Chase and Sirin leave the Babylon Laboratory, guard this laboratory and prevent anyone from leaving."

"Order: Make this task the top priority."

"Order: Disconnect all external links and cut off contact with the outside world."

After a series of commands were issued, the mech's body continuously flickered with blue light, seemingly processing information.

"Order received."

"Order 1: After Chase and Sirin leave the Babylon Laboratory, guard this laboratory and prevent anyone from leaving."

"Order 2: After Chase and Sirin leave the Babylon Laboratory, please..."

"Order 3: ..."

"Please confirm."

"Confirmed, execute immediately," Chase said.

"Orders 1 and 2 completed; currently disconnecting from the outside world..."

This mech was the G-12 Tactical Mech prototype, an imitation of Entropy's mech but seemed deeply connected to the 'Tower' due to being a prototype. Disconnecting would take some time.

"Alright, Sirin, let's go."

Sirin didn't say anything, quickly following her brother.

The girl's eyes gazed into the distance beyond the main gate. The snow had stopped, and the night sky was clear. The wind blew occasionally, lifting some snowflakes into the air. Moonlight spilled from the sky onto the snowflakes, bouncing into the open gate.

Sirin was momentarily stunned, and she stared blankly as her brother, who was holding her hand, walked away. It seemed like she recalled something from the past.

She used to leave the 'Tower' before, but it was always because friends were leaving. At that time, she had no mood to admire the outside scenery.

The wind passed through the open gate, blowing cold air inside. However, Sirin didn't feel cold. This coolness made her heart warm. This wind came from a distance, bringing the fragrance of hope and...

Thunderous sounds of thunder and the smell of blood?

The girl paused, realizing that the person holding her hand had fallen, and behind him was a researcher in a white coat holding a gun.

Chase lay on the ground, and moonlight shone on his wound, creating a splendid red flower on his left shoulder.

"You stole the 'Tower's' research, but the 'Tower's' reaction was quick. While patching up the G-12 Tactical Mech, you were ambushed."

"Unprepared, you took a shot, and the intense pain from your left shoulder made your brain go blank."

"You fell."

Sirin was at a loss, watching her brother lying on the ground. Her mind seemed chaotic, filled with indistinct murmurs and a blank emptiness. She didn't know what to do, feeling like a drowning person trying to grab onto anything but finding nothing.

Confused, helpless, perplexed, angry...

Various emotions spread in her heart, intertwining with each other, turning into a complex emotion that she couldn't name. She thought of her mother on the sickbed, Agatha and Aphrodite who had passed away, and finally Bella. Their figures gradually overlapped with the fallen Chase in front of her.

When loved ones left, the girl was sad, but she still had her brother. When friends left, the girl was sad, but she still had her brother. If her brother also left, Sirin couldn't even imagine!

So, the girl prayed to the gods, eager for the power to protect her brother. Her mother had told her that when facing difficulties, praying to the gods would help. But her brother didn't believe in such things, saying it was just a scam.

Initially hesitant, Sirin didn't know whether to believe her mother or her brother. But now, her only brother, whom she could rely on, was lying on the ground. She had no choice.

The gods listened to the girl's plea and sent down a blessing.

"The gods give me a gateway, opening the vast universe, creating something out of nothing, the king of space."

Sirin successfully obtained power from the gods. She turned around, angrily staring at the researcher holding a gun.

In her golden eyes, faint circles appeared around the cross-shaped pupils.

"You, deserve to die!" Sirin said, and an eerie and terrifying aura emanated from her. It suppressed the researcher, who frantically tried to shoot but found that he couldn't move. Fear appeared in his eyes.

The girl reached out, intending to administer divine punishment.

"Bang!"

After a gunshot, the researcher fell to the ground, a large hole pierced through his chest, not dead but severely wounded.

Sirin was stunned, and her momentum seemed to stagnate. The gunshot came from behind, carrying a reassuring voice.

"Sirin, let's go."

Chase silently put away the "Hammer of Thor," somewhat surprised by the power of this weapon.

Chase suddenly felt like he had become the top male gun in the Japanese server, possessing the ability to broaden people's minds. No, perhaps he was even better, as he only fired one shot.

Chase.

Chase shook his head, dispelling the chaotic thoughts in his mind. He took the hand of the somewhat dazed girl and walked towards the exit.

Although he was curious about Sirin's recent unusual behavior, it was evidently not the time to ask about it now.

Sirin looked at the young man who was stumbling and pulling her, with worry, fear, relief, and various emotions spreading in her heart. She opened her mouth, wanting to say something, but didn't know how to express it.

Chase's left arm continued to bleed, staining his white clothes with an eerie red under the moonlight. Despite the injury causing him to stagger, each step he took exuded determination.

He was stepping out of the prison, together with the girl.
