57. DEVON

Devon's POV

I was scared shitless, but there was no one I could reveal it to.

It's been days, several days since I'd sent Olivia out of my house, and since then I hadn't seen sight nor sound of her. My heart lurched again as I thought of how much danger she would be in on the streets alone, and her reputation as a Stealer Wolf would not help matters. I had willingly pushed her into the hungry mouth of danger, and I was almost driving myself crazy with worry about her.

I was sitting on a chair with a sheaf of papers in front of me, reading using the glowing lamp beside my seat. Someone knocked on the door, and I glanced up. I wasn't in the mood for visitors, but it could be the guards I sent in search of Olivia. Perhaps they were back with news of her.

The knock came again, and I called out. "Come in,"

The door opened, and the knocker walked in.

It was Candice. Oh, Goddess!

"Is there a problem?" I asked, the coldness evident in my tone.
