Leo stared blankly up at the coffered ceiling above him. He had been counting them over and over in his head.
"35....36...37...."
Nothing was working. His life, as he knew it, had been turned upside down. Laying in a white hospital bed, IV in his hand, the clicking and occasional beeping of the machines on his bedside.
The wires of one of thr monitoring machines were slipped under his hospital gown and on his abdomen.
He could hear the muffled voices of staff and visitors coming and going in the hallway.
Letting out a long sigh: covering his face with both hands: Leo groaned loudly.
"I'm so stupid. What did I do?" He asked himself.
Everything was now starting to make sense.
--1 hour earlier--
David dropped Leo as quickly as he had grabbed him. The look of sheer disgust covering the Alpha's face as he looked down at his clothing. The finely tailored suit now had a mixture of yesterday's mystery meal and somthing green.
Leo fell to the floor, dazed and confused. His eyes wandering back up to look at David. His stomach made him retch. Scrambling to his feel he made a bee line to his restroom.
Head hanging over the toilet.
The three other men remained in the living room. The two bodyguards looked at David: who in turn had not moved an inch.
He pulled off his suit jacket and threw it to the floor.
"GRAB HIM!" He snapped at one of the men.
Wiping the his mouth with the back of his hand, Leo gripped a hold of the sink to hoist himself back up. He was overwhelmingly dizzy.
One of the men grabbed him by the back of his shirt and drug him out of the bathroom: throwing him to David's feet.
"Your days are numberd!" David hissed between his teeth.
Leo couldn't concentrate. Whatever David was saying to him, it was all a blur.
"Noah! This trash was a waste of my time!"
Leo heard David criticize someone over the phone in his hand.
"He's just a junkie.....what?...."
Leo couldn't hold his concentration.
"Hey...jus...hold on..." Leo reached out. The last thing he was were neatly shined black shoes of his maker.
---
When he had come to he was at the hospital.
All he could do was wait for the doctor to return. He noticed, since waking up, no one besides the hospital staff had entered his room. Though he didn't want to jinx himself; he wondered where the three men had gone. Had they just dumped him there and left? Did they throw him on the street and a good Samaritan picked him up?
He let out a long groan.
The handle on thr door clicked at it opened. Stepping into the room was a young man. Looking to be around 30. He adorned glasses and a Grey suit. His hair was neatly slicked back and styled to the side. An outdated hairstyle from decades ago.
Though his outfit was odd he did have a kind expression on his face.
He took a seat next to Leo.
"Hello Mr. Meadows, my name Is Noah Madden: I am Here on behalf of David Blackthorn." He extended his hand to the Young man.
Leo just looked at it then turned his eye contact back to Noah.
Pulling back his hand, Noah cleared his throat: positioning his glasses up the bridge of his nose.
"Yes. Well....under normal circumstances this would be a bit less confusing for you."
"I doubt it", Leo smirked at the secretary.
"Can you please tell me whats happening? How did I get here?"
Noah just sat with a coherent expression.
"Please let me explain..."
David looked down at the disgusting display mounted on his feet. Lightly shoving Leo away with his foot he put the phone back up to his ear.
Noah this is going to become a much bigger problem, do somthing about it!"
Within 3 minutes Noah had come running into the apartment.
Taking in the scene of what looked like three thugs shaking down a poor home owner or maybe a group of loan sharks was more accurate.
His eyes followed to the floor where Leo was laying unconcious.
He rushed over to make sure the boy was still alive.
"I wasn't able to get anything out of him. If it turns out to be the wrong guy I am looking for then you will be the one in trouble". David threatened.
Noah ran his fingers on Leo's neck, trying to find a pulse. He caught a glimpse of somthing under the collar of his shirt.
He slowly peeled back to discover a mark.
He looked up at David, exposing Leo's shoulder.
David glared.
"What is that?"
Noah looked David in the eye.
"Sir...is this....?"
"Noah you told me this person was a Beta. What's with the mark?"
Even Noah was perplexed by the situation.
The secretary propped up Leo in his arms.
David reached out and grabbed Leo, once again: roughly, by his shirt.
Noah flinched.
Leaning close to the mark David hesitated a moment before taking in the scent on Leo's neck.
The four men in the room had their eyes on the Alpha.
David's eyes widened slightly. He pulled back from Leo's unconcious body: shoving him back towards his secretary.
It was almost as if the events from the charity Gala were rushing back to him. David let out a light laugh.
"There's no way". He looked down at Leo.
"Sir if I may?" Noah interrupted.
"I think it's best we take him to a hospital first."
He indicated to Leo. Holding him steady they both took note of how pale he was becoming.
David Scoffed.
"Just take care of it. And call me the moment he wakes up".
The Alpha stormed out of the apartment, bodyguards in tow.
Noah turned his attention back to Leo. He leaned a bit closer taking in the whiff of his scent.
He leaned away.
Looking back to the open door he muttered.
"Sir ...what did you do?"
----
Leo lay listening to Noah.
"The doctor should be in here shortly, the nurse asked me to step in so I could speak with you."
Leo nodded with every word Noah spewed.
"Do you understand the situation so far?" Noah inquired: waiting to hear Leo's thoughts.
Leo stared at Noah for a long moment. He then opened his mouth.
"So...I'm not getting sued or going to jail?" He genuinely asked.
Noah was perplexed by his question. Out of everything that had happened THAT was what Leo chose to ask about?
He shook his head.
"Uhm..no".
Leo let out a huge sigh of relief.
Noah watched Leo.
He went to speak again but the door opened again. This time the doctor came through: sifting through a stack of papers: Leo's medical history.
"Let's see...Mr. Meadows..." the doctor continued looking down at the papers.
"It says here that you havnt had a medical checkup since the age of...18?"
The doctor looked up at the awaiting patient.
Leo nodded.
The doctor wrote somthing on the paper.
"I have to say that is quite dangerous for you to not get regular checkups."
The doctor walked over to the noisy machines: taking a long look at them.
He opened the packet of papers again.
"Well there is nothing that can be done now about that. You don't have to worry about the morning sickness it should pass soon considering how far along you are. So you should be able to return home when we release you later today."
Leo thought he was hearing things.
"Wait I'm sorry, can you say that again?" Leo sat up as if to hear the doctor more clearly.
Noah had felt the blood run dry in his body.
"The baby should be fine considering the amount of alcohol traces that were found in your system. You should take better care of your body". The doctor slightly scolded him.
Noah interrupted the two.
"Excuse me doctor but...just hoe far along is....?"
The doctor looked at the man.
"I would say roughly a month. Are you his Alpha by chance?" The doctors mood chippered a bit.
"Can you both please excuse me for a moment." Noah excused himself from the room.
"He's a good looking guy, how long have the two of you...?"
Leo looked at his doctor.
"No no no! He's not my...I'm not...I'm pregnant?!"
The doctor handed over Leo's lab results to him.
Leo ran his eyes over the paper in his hands roughly about 30 times.
There was no mistaking it.
Leo began to feel uneasy.
He leaned back into the pillows on the bed.
"A congratulations should be in order. Remember to rest, eat and drink lots of fluids in these early stages. We don't want you to end up back in here".
A nurse had come running into the room.
"Doctor I'm sorry but your presence is needed in the waiting room!" Her voice urgent.
The doctor excused himself and Leo was once again left alone.
The words baby and pregnant seemed to float around his head.
It explained why he had been sick the last couple of days.
Helooked down towards his stomach. The cords still stuck on his skin: the monitors doing their job.
Leo wasn't stuck alone for long. Heavy pairs of footsteps were fast approaching in the hallway.
The door swung open: slamming against the adjacent wall. There stood the angriest Alpha in the city.
David's brown eyes staring a hole into Leo.
He gulped.
"I'm screwed".
Two nurses and Noah stood between the patient and Ceo. Security had also been called as a result. The emergency room had become a madhouse.
"Alright everybody calm down!" The doctor came into the room as well.
It had taken a lot of convincing but the room died down.
Noah leaned over to David.
"Sir there is still a probability that this Omega is NOT pregnant with your child. Why not take a DNA paternity test to rule out that possibility?"
David took a step back.
All parties, including a terrified Leo, looked at the medical professional.
The doctor sighed.
Taking both samples from the Omega and Alpha the doctor left again.
Since the room had become cordial, for the time being, David sat in a chair at the far end of the room. Noah sat towards the middle while Leo remained in the bed.
The Alpha had not taken his eyes off the boy. Leo, on the other hand, was doing everything in his power to NOT look at him.
The air surrounding them was tense.
"When this is resolved and proven its not mine; we will resolve the issue with the marks." David hissed at Noah.
Leo could hear him. It felt like he was purposely eing excluded from a situation he was clearly a part of.
"Look it's a long story...I'm sorry about marking you and I'm sure you fully regret marking me. Let's just end the bond now and-".
"Woah woah woah!" Noah spoke up in a partial panic.
"Even if you both do that now it could be detrimental to the baby".
"If you knew about the mark in the first place then why did you deny knowledge of it?" David glared over at Leo. His leg crossed and arms folded across his chest.
"It's....a long story..." Leo started.
"I don't need to hear it then." David snapped at him.
Leo furrowed his brow at the man.
"Jackass". He muttered.
The DNA testing was taking longer than the Alpha had patience for.
"Why is that damn doctor taking forever with the results?!"
David had started to become restless.
Two hours had passed and still nothing.
Finally: the doctor knocked on the door and came in. Results in hand.
"Sorry to keep you all waiting...." He talked to everyone in the room.
Noah's phone had gotten a notification. He pulled it out of his pocket.
"Well I can officially say that you, Mr. Blackthorn, are the other biological parent to Mr. Meadows child. So congratulations father to be".
David's face went numb.
Leo wasn't doing much better with the news.
The doctor had seemed confused, normally marked couples would have been thrilled with the news.
"Well, let me know if you will need anything, I will return with Mr. Meadows' discharge papers and you should be set to go."
The doctor left.
Noah, David and Leo had all fallen silent.
"Alright." David's expression went cold.
"It doesn't matter. I won't claim it as mine. I only tracked you down to end our bond."
The two were in a slight problem.
Noah: about to make it worse.
"Sir, there is a problem." He handed his phone over to David.
The outburt in the hospital, earlier, had caused a stir. Someone had seen the fighting and recognized David. Snapping a photo with a maternity nurse and the doctor while they entered a yelling match.
The article read: David Blackthorn: a new father to be? Seen earlier talking with staff of the maternity ward, There were whispers that the infamous playboy and hotshot Alpha has an Omega on the side. Now soon to be a father. Just who is the mystery woman?
David tool the phone and threw it as hard as he could against the concrete flooring.
Noah stepped back.
"This day is getting a hell of a lot worse". He growled.
