Chapter 15: Lessons Learned

Cameron and I shuttled down the hallway of my ex-boyfriend's apartment, neither of us breathing a word to the other.

 

I was lost in my thoughts and I bet he was in a world of contemplations too. However, the silence wasn't as awkward as I thought it would be.

 

I couldn't help but wonder how I moved on so fast. My first breakup in middle school was nursed for ages, as my father was away from home when it happened. He got back to see me in a state he called pitiful and a disgrace.

 

I recall asking severally what he meant by that statement, but his only response was a calm and warm smile.

 

Initially, I had thought he was trying to be mean to me, but it turns out, he didn't actually mean it in a hurtful way.
