CHAPTER 67

As the crowd hushed in anticipation, Hamza stood close to Adele on stage. When the soft piano melody began, a shiver passed through the room.

"I heard that you're settled down.

That you found a girl and you're married now

I heard that your dreams came true

Guess she gave you things I didn't give to you

Old friend, why are you so shy?

Ain't like you to hold back or hide from the light"

Adele's voice shook as the words tumbled out; raw vulnerability etched onto her face. Memories of happier times flooded back as her eyes met a certain person emotion that she felt she poured every ounce of emotion she felt towards the way she sang.

"I hate to turn up out of the blue, uninvited

But I couldn't stay away, I couldn't fight it

I had hoped you'd see my face

And that you'd be reminded that for me, it isn't over"
