A Black Web: A town called Memories

While the moon appeared high in the sky, Matilda turned her body to glance out of the window. A scene of two individuals riding swiftly in the darkness caught her eyes. Yet, she acknowledged it was implausible, because they were vivid. Her head swayed as a fond memory of Hugh and her came to mind.

They were teens back then and trying to catch a train, but ended on horse back. Both felt the urge to be far from Pointsview. The idea of a train whisking them away from all their troubles sounded like a dream. “How I miss being that adventurous girl, Hugh,” Matilda spoke softly.

Hugh’s face lit up. A shade of red dusted his cheeks. He smiled and looked at her red locks. His hand touched the ends of her unswept curls. “You have not changed. You remain equally adventurous and untamed.”

Matilda scowled. “I was never wild, Hugh. This place brings back memories, the sprawling countryside.”
