Cassandra bit her lip.
Her heart seized up in fear thinking of the way Bruce had caught her right before she'd walked up to agents guarding the VIP Parlour the day before.
He'd lashed out so hard that she'd been so sure he'd pull out a gun at any point to kill her.
She had been terrified.
The atmosphere of being near such a heavily guarded room had added to the overall fear and she took a deep calming breath.
Sitting down on a step of the staircase on one of the floors of the hotel, she bit her lip.
From what she'd heard from one of the people close to Clara Kane, the young heiress was meeting with her father and brother for tea.
Cassandra knew her boss wouldn't frequent the hotel as much as she'd like for the next month. It would be the only chance she'll ever directly see him though.
He was notoriously private even to his own agents and she had never seen him in person.
She'd lost her first ever chance when stupid Tim had made a scene with his ugly girlfriend the first time and now Bruce had destroyed her other shot.
Was Bruce Slader blind?
Rage bubbled in her chest. These blind men would definitely make her self-esteem plummet. She had taken such care to dress up. Tim and the others had definitely been under her spell.
What was wrong with Bruce anyway?
How much of a machine could a man be?
Did he even have a heart?
Or eyes?
She was growing more and more irritated by the minute.
She wasn't sure where the family would dine.
Cassandra got off the step and walked into the small office room she'd been given to share with Frank and Tim.
She let her tongue lick her lips as she traced the desk with her finger. Her goal of the month ahead was clear. The next time she was lodged somewhere for a mission, she would be given the boss' bedroom.
A body-length mirror sat propped against the left wall and Cassandra walked over to survey her reflection.
She fluffed her red, silky hair. Her eyes looked captivating under the eyeshadow she had perfected, and her red lips were glossy to look at.
Cassandra had a stunning body. The soft dress she wore wrapped around her curves perfectly. Her feet were in high red heels.
"Cassandra!"
Cassandra looked to the door to see Frank walk in, his face looking excited.
His eyes dropped to gaze at her body longingly before they shot up to meet her eyes.
"Yes?" She walked over to him slowly before letting her body rest against the wall.
"W-Well," Frank smiled, "You'll never believe what Bruce just told me. He's told me to inform you and Tim as well."
"And that is?" Cassandra looked up at him seductively from below her lashes as she took a step closer to him.
Looking up, she watched Frank swallow in his throat.
A feeling of satisfaction spread within her chest.
With blind fellows like Bruce walking around, she was so glad people like Frank and Tim were available for Cassandra to practice her charms on.
Frank's eyes were holding a mix of fear and lust, and Cassandra enjoyed the attention she was able to pull from him.
"H-He, I mean," Frank swallowed again as Cassandra took the last step to get closer to him, "What I mean to say is- I, well."
Cassandra had always felt Frank's eyes on her.
But then again, very few male agents had resisted the urge to undress her with their eyes.
Frank was still stammering when Cassandra raised the palm of her hand and laid it slowly on his chest. Her heart hammered from beneath and she smirked.
His hand slowly raised to touch her hip and Cassandra imagined it to be the boss for a minute.
Her heart skipped a beat and she flinched back.
Frank also stopped immediately and stepped back.
Cassandra caught herself.
What was wrong with her?
Now, Frank would hesitate the next time she tried something.
She never failed at seductions.
Why was her heart skipping for a man she hadn't even seen yet?
Frank was apologizing profusely, and she waved him away impatiently.
Why had she reacted this way?
She bit her lip.
Cassandra had to keep her wits about her.
The next month was important.
"I- I wanted to tell you," Frank looked terrified, "that Bruce has asked me invite you and Tim to a tea with the Kanes."
Cassandra stilled, "What?"
"It- It's huge!" Frank hesitated before he smiled, "You know Ms. Kane had a tea and dinner scheduled with her father this evening? The boss is joining them too for the evening. And so are we?"
Cassandra whirled around, her eyes widening in shock, "We are?"
"Yes," Frank straightened, "Is- Isn't that great? You really wanted to see the boss."
"H-How can this be? We're invited to eat with them?"
Frank shook his head, "Of course not. We've been called for some formal introductions to the Event Managers. We are to assist them for the next month and help with preparations fo-"
Cassandra stopped him, "The boss will be there and we're invited to be too?"
Frank nodded, surprised of course.
Cassandra let that slowly sink in, feeling her mind racing a mile a minute.
"We're supposed to be ready for tea and be promptly down at five," Frank said.
"A-And do we change our clothes?"
Frank wrinkled his nose, "I don't think so. We just show up, I guess."
"We can't go to dinner like this."
Frank snorted, "We're not invited to dinner, Cass. How would we be? We're just going to be there at tea and get introduced to the Event managers. That's all!"
Cassandra frowned.
That was alright.
Tea was still the perfect opportunity to let her presence be known.
She turned around quickly and stalked to the mirror.
Looking at her reflection, she made adjustments to the dress till more of her chest was bared.
She wouldn't let this chance go to waste.
