Leah nodded as she listened, offering no word in response to Tim's dialogue.
"And…" Tim swallowed hard. He was realising how out of tune Leah looked. Her pretty face looked rather unimpressed, and she looked like she did not believe a word coming out of Tim Leyland's mouth.
"A- And so," Tim continued, trying his best, "I was not in the best headspace like I said earlier… w- which may have caused me to look a l- little… unconcerned, Leah… In reality, I had a burning headache at the time… And work was a- also not going so great for me!"
Tim checked Leah's expression.
She was stone still.
Was this truly the girl he had dated for two whole years?
The girl who dropped everything to meet him when he called. The girl who blushed hard when he paid her even the tiniest compliment. The girl who was caring and sweet to him and trusted him more than anyone else in the world.
Surely, this was not that same girl.
