[255] Useful Mascot

August strolled into the student council room, and none of the members paid him any mind.

Compared to others, August practically lived at the student council, akin to being at home. Over time, everyone had grown accustomed to him, and he had seamlessly become part of the team.

Seeing August and Ravel enter together, Sona, seated in the president's position, grinned.

She had heard August complain incessantly these past few days, primarily because Ravel was too young. If she were a bit older, August would have swept her off her feet ages ago. As it stood, she was tantalizingly close yet out of reach.

That was precisely why August felt irritated. Though he was a bit of a lecher, he had standards. August preferred mature and seductive women.

Of course, if it was legal, that would be acceptable too. Yet, August had no interest in something he couldn't have.

"By the way, my sister contacted me last night."

"So what? Let me guess, she misses you again? 'It's been so long since I last saw you, give me a hug, give me a kiss.'"

"Be serious."

"Where am I not serious? Your sister is just another late-stage siscon."

"She's still my sister."

"Alright, I won't bring it up again. From now on, I'll keep quiet about it."

"That sounds about right."

Watching August and Sona bicker like a married couple, Ravel felt envious, but August's attention always seemed elsewhere.

After spending this time getting to know and investigating August, Ravel realized the reason was simple: her figure wasn't up to par. She didn't have the extraordinary assets of Rias or Sona.

"Ah, stop teasing me. I almost forgot the main point. Don't interrupt."

"Fine, I won't interrupt. Go on."

"This week's final day is Parent's Day, and all the students' parents will be visiting."

"So, your sister will come?"

"That's not confirmed yet, but according to Rias, Lord Sirzechs is planning to visit."

"In that case, your sister will definitely come."

"That's not the point. Stay focused."

"Alright, continue."

Watching August get sidetracked right after saying he wouldn't, Sona couldn't help but feel annoyed.

"Besides Parent's Day, there's another reason why Lord Sirzechs is coming. There will be a meeting of the Three Factions, happening right here in Kuoh."

"A meeting of the Three Factions? Here? Why?"

"Isn't it obvious? After the commotion caused by Kokabiel and with Rias and me here, along with you, not to mention Azazel possibly coming here for a stroll."

"Hmm~"

Hearing Sona's explanation, August suddenly felt that Kuoh was in chaos, with an abundance of people.

Speaking of Azazel, August hadn't seen him in a while. He might have come and gone without visiting him, or maybe he hadn't come at all.

Regardless, it didn't matter now. With the Three Factions meeting imminent, it meant that the Khaos Brigade would be making a frontal assault.

The thought of Hero Faction made August salivate. Three Longinus in total, along with several other types of sacred gears, not to mention the numerous demonic swords in Siegfried's possession. These were all top-tier treasures.

Most importantly, there was the infinitely adorable dragon of calamity, Ophis, from the Khaos Brigade. August really wanted to meet her.

After all, he still had a budding World Tree seedling to nurture at home.

August's mind wandered, leaving Sona rolling her eyes before she resumed her work, ignoring him.

After a moment, August snapped out of his reverie. He had been eyeing Sona's collection of exquisite weapons, considering making a move. But when he noticed Ravel nearby, he quickly dismissed the thought.

With Sona around, there was no way August could make a move without repercussions.

This only fueled August's resentment towards Ravel.

"You, little miss, have seriously disrupted the intimate communication between us boyfriend and girlfriend. This is a serious matter."

As he settled onto the couch, Tsubaki promptly brought over tea. She had begun preparing refreshments as soon as August entered.

In the past, August would have pulled Tusbaki into his arms and deepened their bond.

But not anymore. A colossal third wheel was now present, albeit small in stature but with significant wattage.

"I say, Ravel, let's make a deal. What do you think?"

"Please speak, Lord August."

"Spare me, and I'll agree to a reasonable condition from you. How about it?"

Hearing August's proposition, Ravel's eyes lit up. A reasonable condition, though with conditions attached, would undoubtedly be valuable.

"Why would Lord August say such a thing? Ravel hasn't done anything."

"You haven't done anything, but you've also done everything."

"I don't understand what you mean, Lord August."

Ravel smiled faintly, pretending not to understand anything.

August seethed with anger. This little miss was definitely being deliberate, taking advantage of her somewhat attractive appearance, daring August to lay a hand on her.

If this were Azazel, August would have kicked him out long ago. But with Ravel, a child and a girl, August couldn't bring himself to do much.

Suddenly, an idea struck August. He pulled out his phone from his pocket and sent a message to a certain someone.

[Koneko-chan, do me a favor.]

[?]

In no time, Koneko replied. Though they were in school and still in class, Koneko wasn't exactly a model student.

[Drag Ravel away from the student council, and I'll buy you all the latest new games.]

[Wait three minutes.]

August chuckled. Koneko was easily swayed by the allure of games.

With that in mind, August glanced at Ravel, who was nearby.

As Ravel felt August's gaze on her, a sense of foreboding washed over her. August had never smiled at her like this before. There was definitely something fishy going on.

Bang!

Just as Ravel cautiously surveyed her surroundings, the student council room door burst open once more.

And there stood Koneko. Upon entering, her gaze landed on August and Ravel.

August gave Koneko a thumbs-up, appreciating her promptness.

Koneko nodded at August before making her way towards Ravel.

"Ravel, it's time for class."

"Huh? I got permission from the teacher to skip this period."

"Studies cannot be neglected. It's time for class."

"Wait a moment, Koneko. I have permission."

"You must study diligently and not skip class."

As Ravel struggled, the little princess of the House of Phenex was dragged away.

August burst into laughter. Truly, one thing led to another! To deal with this little girl, he needed to bring in another one.
