Chapter three

"Another Unique has appeared it seems." An enchanting woman said to herself, standing on what appeared to be absolutely nothing, just floating on air. She seemed to be an older woman, in her mid-thirties, but still very attractive with her mysterious vibe to her, especially seeing as she was flying right now.

She seemed to be looking into the window of some teenage boy, and this boy just so happened to be Arthur Young, the protagonist of this story.

If we go back about an hour we can see who she is and why she's spying on Arthur.

"I can't believe I was called out to deal with a spirit Apprentice, I'm a grandmaster for god's sake, a unique at that. First, they make me the principal and now they're calling me out on missions, make up your damn mind! I'm just slaving myself away for them and this is how they repay me. I'm going to be president one day, I've got the talent for it. That'll show him!" A mature woman complained to herself as she jumped from building to building, going in the direction of a certain dark alleyway.

She was going at a leisurely pace until she heard the screams of a woman, and so she upped her pace, finally taking this seriously. Even if she could easily take care of this guy, if she didn't get there on time then she's failed her main job, to protect the public and make sure nobody learns of 'them' or anything related to them. Even just learning about manifestations is a no-go.

She finally reached the scene and saw something interesting, a man covered in burns, her target, and a woman lying on the floor terrified for her life, but that wasn't what was interesting, no, there was another person. A seemingly normal teenage boy was standing there, and he seemed ready to flee. I decided to intervene, but just as I was about to kill the rogue spirit user, the ordinary boy cocked his fist back and ran at the spirit user.

The woman adopted an amused face, wanting to see where this leads to, ready to intervene as soon as he's about to die. The spirit user commands his summons to attack the normal boy, and so it does. It's a dark spirit type, not all too strong, but the scariest looking for sure. Just as the dark spirit was about to consume the boy and the woman was about to interfere, she felt an energy, similar to when a manifestation is awakened, but much stronger, making her halt her movements, and watch what happens.

"I can't believe my luck, the first unique to awaken since, well me, and that was 20 years ago. God, I'm getting old. Never mind that my skin is as young as a twenty-year-old. Positive mind, positive life." She repeated a couple more times, and then finally concentrated back on the scene of the once ordinary boy killing the summoner spirit user.

"What an interesting power, he'd make a great disciple, and I could train him to do all my errands as well. Hahaha, I'm such a genius, but how should I approach him? Hmm, I guess I can just watch him for a while and gather information on him." She nodded her head and then continued to watch and follow him home resulting in her just watching him from outside her window.

You might wonder why no one has seen her, well that would be because of her Unique manifestation, to reflect anything, While there are some limits, it's still an insanely powerful manifestation and makes her the strongest spirit user in the range of grandmaster and below, which almost all spirit users are. This power also allows her to reflect the light and make her invisible to the eye, whilst it sounds simple that's just a dumbed-down version in actuality it is a lot more complicated.

*Brrr**brrr* "Who's calling me now?" The woman said with a tired sigh, predicting she's being called to do some type of work.

She answered the phone reluctantly, and on the other end the voice of an aged man was heard, saying "What's taking you so long, this should be an easy mission, no problems have arisen have they?" He said with care in his voice, worried for this woman. Who is he? A lover maybe?

"I'm fine Dad, I just got distracted by something. You never let me rest, always working me to the bone. I might tell Mum" The thirty-something-year-old woman said with surprising childishness, to the man on the other end, who we now know as her father.

"Stop acting like a child when you are already thirty-six, I'm doing this for your own good. You were so headstrong to inherit my position from me, instead of just finding a man and settling down, so I have to work you hard to prepare you." He responded in a strict voice but with clear care showing between the lines.

"Fine, whatever. What did you call me for anyway?" She responded, trying to move on as fast as possible, something in that argument from her dad hitting on a sore spot or spots.

"Well if you are okay then, Get back to work!" He shouted to her, transforming from a caring dad to an annoyed boss, the worst kind of boss.

"Fine," she said before hanging up the phone, once again annoyed at her dad. She gave one last look at the now-sleeping boy and decided to come back later, maybe even accept him as her disciple if he's feeling better. But something she has to do no matter what is recruiting him to the school of manifestations, the school she recently became principal of.
