The guilty confession

Esme's phone rang as she walked down the street. A flicker of relief washed over her as she saw Adelynn's name blaze across the screen. It was a welcome distraction for her to forget about her recent argument with Julian. A smile stretched across her face as she answered the call.

"Hello."

"I am so disappointed with you," Adelynn whined. "You didn't tell me anything about the attack."

"How did you know?" Esme was stunned. She had not mentioned the attack to her yet.

"Caleb told me," Adelynn explained.

Confusion knotted Esme's brow. "Caleb?" she echoed, surprised.

"Yes. As you know, Silas has been helping me in exposing my rival; I called Caleb for some information last night. He told me what had happened at the hospital."

"I see." Esme nodded understandingly.

Adelynn suggested, "Why don't you come over? We can talk."

"Okay. I'll be there shortly." Esme readily agreed.
