"If you are happy with him, I am happy," Scarlet said with a reassuring smile, bringing Esme back to reality. "It's good that you two reconciled. Your marriage was agreed upon by both families a long time ago. If it hadn't been for Ruby, you would have married Julian by now. But that's fine; we shouldn't linger on the past. The best part is that you two are back together."

Despite the heartbreak she endured, Esme managed a genuine smile. She would find comfort in her parents' happiness.

Just then, the sound of the doorbell rang through the air. "I'll get it," Scarlet announced, rising to her feet. "Finish the juice," she reminded her before stepping out of the room.

Esme gazed absentmindedly out of the window, lost in thought. Her mind kept wandering back to Silas, and she wondered where he might be and if he ever thought about her.

"Do you still remember me?" she whispered softly, half expecting him to appear before her.
