Chapter 80 - Another Shelter

…..Bang...

Somewhere in the vast forest, Zach could be found fighting against the silver-class Phantom Wolf. He never thought that the speed of the Phantom Wolf was completely out of his expectations as he no longer had any idea just where he was right now after he took the beasts out of everyone fearing that they might be targeted by it however, one is for sure and that is he was still inside Pluto Sanctuary.

At this moment, Zach could be found running while holding the Poison Dagger in his right hand and War Pistol in his left hand. It has been already an hour since he started fighting the Phantom Wolf and yet he still hasn't killed it until now.

Not before long, a red Surviving Line flashed through Zach once more and so he guarded it with his Poison Dagger and as if two metals had collided, he saw the seemingly phantom-like claw extension of the Phantom Wolf's claw hitting his weapon.

It was one of the Phantom Wolf's skills and Zach admitted that if he didn't have the system, he might probably be dead by now. So without delaying, he then aimed the War Pistol again and immediately pulled the trigger.

….Bang….

Two bullets were fired but it was already too late as the Phantom Wolf had already retreated and evaded all the bullets like it was nothing as it moved around the forest again waiting for another opportunity.

"Dammit." Zach cursed as he had never hit it once until now and it started to make him worry after seeing that it was getting dark. He can't help but blame himself for underestimating the beasts but dwelling after it would not help him, so he directed his thought as to how to kill it instead.

"It's all about the speed." Zach muttered as the Phantom Wolf wasn't really that strong, he just couldn't keep up with its speed and that's the reason why he couldn't give it even a single shot and be done with it.

Time passed by and after another hour of running while dealing with the Phantom Wolf, Zach found himself in a grassland seeing the place he was right now didn't have any trees standing. Thinking about it, he then immediately ran away from the forest and went deeper into the grassland after thinking that this must be the opportunity that he was waiting for.

After arriving at a reasonable distance, Zach then faces the forest wanting to see where the Phantom Wolf will come out however, while he's doing that, he is also drinking Spirt Vials by Spirit Vials wanting to fill his almost depleted Spirit after he already used Blink three times while facing it.

Not before long, the Phantom Wolf also got out of the forest and it immediately looked at the surroundings first before looking at Zach while baring its fangs at him. It walked slowly as if it was carefully examining its prey before started running toward his location.

...Bang....

Zach started firing his War Pistol even though he could see how the Phantom Wolf evaded them without difficulty but he did not care until he saw it jump ready to pounce at him so he immediately used Blink, but he only teleported not that far from it as he throws an Ice Bomb towards the beast.

...Boom….

The Ice Bomb exploded however, just as Zach expected, the Phantom Wolf wasn't hit but he let it go immediately and started firing his War Pistol again not wanting to give it a rest. However, the same thing happened seeing it jump on him again where he used Blink once more and threw an Ice Bomb again.

"I doubt you would not get tired. Let's see who will be the last one standing." Zach said as he started firing again wanting to overwork the beast. In fact, he was also at his limit but probably because of how high his Endurance stats were, he can still keep on fighting.

…...Bang…..

…...Bang….

For the next half an hour, Zach did the same thing over and over again though it took a while since he was dividing his attention between fighting and replenishing his lost Spirit but it was all worth it after seeing that the Ice Bomb had finally caught on the Phantom Wolf seeing one of its legs got frozen and become a block of ice.

Despite that, the Phantom Wolf doesn't seem to be scared and even looks at Zach angrily and growls loudly at him which surprised Zach after hearing it as he felt all his hair suddenly stand up and when he looked at the Phantom Wolf again, he felt like it become much bigger.

"S-So this is I-Intimidation. W-What a great skill." Zach muttered while looking at the Phantom Wolf trying not to get intimidated as he knew for himself that he was the one winning this battle, so he raised his War Pistol once again and hardly pulled the trigger.

…...Bang….

Zach woke up from the sound of the gunshot so he looked at the Phantom Wolf and there he saw it running in his direction, however, never would he have thought that someone suddenly interrupted their fight after seeing an arrow hit the Phantom Wolf which made it stop his movements.

"Hey, are you alright?!" A woman's voice echoed throughout the field.

Zach looked at the woman with great surprise seeing how she hit the Phantom Wolf whom he couldn't even hit up until now however, his face immediately went sour after seeing the Phantom Wolf forget about him as it ran angrily to the woman. And what's more nerve-cracking was seeing the woman didn't run away seeing her aiming at the Phantom Wolf instead.

Seeing this, Zach immediately started running while taking out a lot of Spirit Vials and drinking them all at once. Also, the woman's location was still not in the range of his skill Blink, so he might as well replenish them while he's at it.

Only five seconds after that, the woman's arrow hit the Phantom Wolf again but she was very surprised to see how it did not hurt at all since all of the beasts she had killed so far had been killed in just one shot for as long she could hit their vital spot.

Panicking a little, the woman immediately took an arrow from her inventory wanting to hit it again however, it was already too late after she saw the Phantom Wolf jump in her direction which made her remember everything that she had experienced throughout her life.

"Not so fast." Zach's voice sounded in the woman's ear and that was when she saw him suddenly appearing in front of her before the both of them fell to the ground safely evading the Phantom Wolf's attack though it immediately turned around to attack them once more.

On the other hand, Zach immediately stood up as he raised his Poison Dagger and successfully blocked the Phantom Claws of the Phantom Wolf before using War Pistol and it was the moment that he finally smiled after he saw that it did not evade them all and took two shots on its body before retreating.

"Hey, you!! Stand up!! We're still not safe. How were you able to hit it with your arrow? Do you have a skill or something?" Zach then asked the woman who was still on the ground shocked at what just happened. He, however, didn't take a glance at her as he didn't want to lose sight of the injured Phantom Wolf.

"W-What was that beast?!!" The woman didn't answer Zach's question but asked him instead as she got up and immediately looked at the Phantom Wolf with great disbelief as it was the first time she had seen such a beast.

"Hey! I'm asking a question here! How were you able to hit it with your arrow?!!" Zach asked once again all the while holding his weapons ready to take action if the Phantom Wolf would start moving again.

"Yes. Yes. Yes. I-I have a passive skill called Precise Shot. It gives me a clear vision while I aim and makes me quite adept at firing ranged attacks." The woman immediately answered after hearing Zach's angry voice.

"Tsk." Zach shows dissatisfaction upon seeing the Phantom Wolf start running toward their location again. If he was alone, such a thing would not be a problem but now that he got company and that his Spirit wasn't enough to use Blink, he had no choice but to take it on again.

"Hey!! When I block it, shoot it again. Take this." Zach said as he took out an enhanced bow and arrow in his inventory while also taking out the Battle Sword. He planned to take the Phantom Wolf head-on now after he finally got someone who would do the support.

Taking the items that Zach had taken out, the woman wasn't very surprised at it but seeing that he was really serious about wanting her to use it, then she could only do so as she prepared herself while holding the string of the bow ready to shoot anytime.

It did not take long before Zach saw the Phantom Wolf jump in his direction again with its claws ready to shred him apart however, just like what he always did, he parried the attack and even quite moved him back a little.

….Swoosh...

Taking the perfect chance and opportunity, the woman let go of the bowstring and the arrow hit the Phantom Wolf's eye making it shriek in pain as it retreated back.

Seeing this, Zach immediately took the chance to end it and used Stealth even if it would only just give him two seconds by what was left of his Spirit. He sprinted toward the Phantom Wolf and just as the Stealth wore off, he was already in range as he looked at the Phantom Wolf's remaining eye before piercing the Battle Sword he had on it.

Following that, Zach retreated back as he took out two War Pistols in both hands and started firing endlessly from which the Phantom Wolf could only shriek in pain and run aimlessly after losing both of its eyes where it didn't take long before it fell to the ground and died.

"We really killed it. Just what kind of beast is that? How is it so powerful?" After seeing the Phantom Wolf die in the distance, the woman immediately rejoiced as she ran in Zach's direction wanting to know how he was being chased by it.

"You don't have any Appraisal Skills? You have a lot of courage to explore the place without having one. Well, you're so lucky that it's me or else you would have already died." Zach answered before he walked towards the dead body of the Phantom Wolf wanting to see the items that it dropped hoping that it would be worth it to compensate for all the efforts he made so far.

Hearing Zach, the woman could only pout since what he said was true. She then just waited in her position feeling a bit embarrassed while deciding not to bother Zach before staring at him walking back at her after he had done looting the items.

"You must be familiar here, right? Is there any shelter around here? It's getting dark, we should find a good place to rest." Zach said after taking all the items that the Phantom Wolf had dropped which he didn't bother looking at the moment since finding a place to stay was their first priority.

"Of course, this is near the shelter I was a resident in." The woman replied enthusiastically while looking at Zach. She then just didn't stay any longer and guided Zach back to the shelter she was in as she felt like he was not a bad person after being saved by the person whom she thought she had saved.

Following that, Zach and the woman took half an hour before they finally arrived at the shelter however, since Zach was not a resident, he could only wait outside the Shelter Protective Shield while the woman would talk it out to the owner of the place to let him in.

Not before long, Zach finally saw a group of five people including the woman walking closer to his direction before seeing them stop after having a reasonable distance that only the Shelter Protective Shield was separating them apart.

"Who are you?" A tall and composed woman who completely looked like the woman whom Zach met stared seriously at him before asking him a question. Zach was sure that the woman in front of him and the woman he met back in the grassland were twins which caught him off guard a little.

"Y-You're the owner of the shelter? Well, I'm Zach, an American and I came here after being chased by a silver-class beast Phantom Wolf. Can I stay inside your shelter for the night? I promised to go immediately tomorrow." Zach, though a little surprised, introduced himself while looking at the woman who was probably the owner and leader of this people seeing the other survivors with her staying silent and remaining on her side.

Hearing the word silver-class beast, the woman's eyes glinted as if something appeared in her mind, so she immediately looked at Zach's attire. The surprise in her eyes after she did it was very obvious but she still got her composure back as she went back to normal, and only after a while did she order one of her men to go back to the main house.

Not before long, Zach then was finally able to enter the shelter however, he didn't seem to have any freedom inside as he was immediately called to the main house not having any clue as to why he was being invited in but he wasn't scared if they will do something funny since he had already looked into their information and no one inside the shelter can harm him unless they have a trump card that he didn't know of.
