Friends & School Days

I have always been a problem child or let's just say I'm just a naughty girl who just wants to always have fun, hehe! One time Yuya was nursing me and was waiting for me outside my grade school room when I skipped class to join my girlfriend Lima. I have three girlfriends in class and I always wanted to spend my break time with Lima of art class. We would go to the river and play with jelly fishes that roam around the Nile's shoreline once in every full moon. Full moons are not fun since chaos and tragedies or natural calamities like floods or stone slides happen, I still want to make the most out of my experience with Lima than regret not having a great time with someone I connect with or who understands me better than Yuya or mother does.

Hey! What are you playing with there?

Ah…Uncle Angianasim taught me about sea animals and I think this is what they call a Subphylum Medusozoa, a boxed type of jelly fish that can be found in the Mediterranean sea 6,600 kilometers emptied from the Nile river. It can cause allergies but you can touch it on the upper part and not the poisonous area, I added while presenting the animal to my friend.

Lima just smiled but when she saw the jelly fish her face twitched and didn't touch the sea animal. Ewe!, it's gooey. I don't like slimy stuff, sorry!

That's okay!, ahh…Lima, do you like…..ah…me?

Yes, I like you, you're my best friend! What's not to like!

Ah, no, I like you more than a friend!

Oh, that kind of like! I hate to break it to you Jaur, but I'm already engaged to a boy, do you remember Kali?

Ah yes (the boy who loves his reflection in the mirror. I always see him check his face every time we break times from classes) that boy, I see! (Ouch! Heart break city!)

Okay, Jaur, sorry, but I need to go! Mother asked me to pick out flowers for dinner. See you later, alright!, Lima said

Ah, okay! See yah!, I cried but I still wanted to tell her how I feel about her. Yet I guess she isn't interested after all. She doesn't feel the same as with me.

I'm sorry Jaur, I love you, ever since we we're kids but I need to marry Kali to save my family's reputation. I can't love a girl which is forbidden in our belief and religious practices. As a Muslim, I couldn't afford to lose my family's respects, more over the respects of our clans towards my parents and kin. Good bye Jaur, I love you!, Lima telling herself while drying the tear drops from her eyes with her arms. She is not running away because she doesn't like Jaur but she's running away from the situation since it's getting complicated with her feelings towards the future queen, from the princess who is still standing near the shoreline while she moves farther away. Her heart grew weak and heavy. "I will miss you, Jaur".

Hey, Lima! See you tomorrow okay?

I didn't want to look back but I can't help but see my love for the last time and smiled. Jaur smiled back with her cheeks flushing with delight and promise.

That was the last time I saw Lima. School was never fun and exciting anymore. I lost my best friend and only love. I heard Lima already have three children and went abroad with her husband in the rich line of merchants in Mesopotamia.

Mother helped me get over Lima by giving me gifts like a pony, my own art room, a trip to Saudi Arabia and a new pet talking bird who I called Mororo.

But I can't seem to forget Lima. She was in her teens and already had children and I, preparing for the seat at the throne as queen, future pharaoh of Egypt. Why can't I be normal and just be some girl who goes to school for arts and draw people in the streets of Thebes or Cairo or in some foreign city like Greece or Rome. But I am no ordinary girl but a child of the current pharaoh who I am destined to become one too in the future.

I wanted to see Lima, so I asked Yuya and Sabah to help me out. Sabah is my instructor for laws and government, so instead of having class he gave me permission to visit my friend with Yuya accompanying me.

Madame, Sir Kali have requested for your presence in the banquet later. Will you attend the ball?, one maid asked while standing near the living room door. I will think about it. I want to check the markets in Thebes. I missed it a lot, though we are planning to stay here for good. I would want to make the best out of the place while we are here. Where are the kids?, Lima while seated on a chair sipping her tea.

They are playing in the garden Madame!

Okay, keep an eye on them, Susa! Thank you! If I have visitors please tell them I am preoccupied. I don't want to see anyone today! Thank you!

Ah, Madame….I have asked her not to come….., Susa added when a stranger came in uninvited.

Even me?

Lima's heart leapt for joy hearing a sweet and familiar voice. Jaur? Jaur.....

Yes, it's me. Hi….Li…..

Jaur…..I missed you!, Lima said turning around to run towards me, hugged and kissed me on the mouth. I have been wanting to do this for a very long time!!!

Stop, Lima! You are a married woman now! But I certainly missed you too, I scolded my friend but my arms are still wrapped around her in spite of. The moment I realized that she is a married woman, Lima's face became serious.

I understand, Jaur! It's been so long since that last time we saw each other at school. Yes, and it took me a while to forget you. I guess it's okay that you left without telling me about your marriage. But I was hurt and got over it anyway. What I missed is our friendship and you, Lima!

Yes, I missed you too, so much I cried myself to sleep every time. Even if I am with Kali, I never stopped thinking about you Jaur. I love you and I still do until now!
