Round 2

2 months went by and the weather began to get worse. Snow began to fall from the sky and the temperature lowered. A few kids ran around in the snow as two adults watched over them. Suddenly the door swung open and out walked Riot with Jackal hanging off his shoulder, Both of them slightly under the influence. The two adults looked at them and chuckled. It's only been 2 months and the place felt like home to them.

"Where is the big guy?" one of the adults asked. Jackal sluggishly swung his body over towards the pair and burped. "H-he's off doing something for the c-commander.." Jackal responded, barely able to talk. Riot wasn't nearly as wasted so he was able to walk.

"Alright, we'll see you guys later," Riot said as he carefully walked Jackal back home. Jackal swung back and forth making it hard for Riot to walk with him. "You going to alright?" He asked. Jackal nodded his head and they continued walking.

It's been a while since they got to settle down like this. Maybe being found by those people wasn't so bad after all. They soon reached what looked like a cabin. Riot opened the door and walked him inside. It was quite warm as the fireplace was set ablaze.

Riot walked him over to the couch and laid him down. "Alright I'm going to put some more wood in the fireplace" Riot called out as he walked over to the fireplace that sat across from the couch. As he kneeled to grab the wood, he looked back at Jackal and smiled. Jackal fell asleep faster than a blink of an eye.

Once he finished putting the wood in, he walked outside and pulled out a cigarette. He then lit it with an old-fashioned lighter. Although there was no life outside of these walls that he was aware of, he didn't mind it. It was quite relaxing, hearing the kids play outside in the snow and hearing voices other than his own.

Suddenly his chest began to ache causing him to collapse onto the ground in pain. Riot groaned as a light cloud of hot air left his mouth. He panted profusely as he lay on the porch. "W-why does m-my chest hurt s-so bad.." he grumbled under the immense pain.

Suddenly he was picked up and shaken a few times. Everything was a blur for him making it hard to figure out what was happening. A voice slowly got louder until his head shot up towards the person who grabbed him.

"D-Dozer?" he mumbled. "Riot are you okay? Why are you laying out here? What happened?" Dozer asked with a worried crackle in his voice. "I'm not sure, my chest started hurting and suddenly I wa-"

A loud explosion not too far away cut him off. The pair turned so fast, their brains couldn't keep up. "The hell was that?" Jackal said from the doorway. Riot turned and looked at him. "We have no clue.." he responded before standing up and gesturing for them to check it out.

"Hey careful you just got done collapsing onto the ground-" Dozer sighed as he knew he wasn't going to be able to convince him to stop. Dozer and Jackal followed behind Riot as they walked through the six-inch deep snow.

Riot suddenly stopped and fell to his knees. "Hey, what's wrong? What's going....on.." The trio stood there in awe, their faces now plastered with a devastated look.

"No...No...No...No this can't be happening. NOT AGAIN!"
