The countenance of the king was one of contentment, yet it was not to be misconstrued as a sign of clemency. The nobles who had recently returned from their search to locate the remains of Emaline's father were well aware that the slightest provocation could incite the King's wrath and that no one would be exempt from its consequences.

The entire court was in a state of obeisance, with heads bowed and knees bent before the regal figure seated upon his throne. A smile graced his countenance, seemingly oblivious to the presence of the nobles until Horacio addressed him.

Horacio approached the king with a sense of urgency, his voice low and respectful. "My liege, the nobles have returned from their mission," he announced, gently lifting the King's chin to meet his gaze.
