"There's no chance for me," Silas stated in a low voice.
Silas's expression and voice conveyed the same hopelessness he had felt during the twelve years of searching for his mate and not finding her.
"You're going to be the Alpha—the one making decisions for the pack and the company. You need to be strong and intelligent, Silas. Why are you letting go of your mate when you should be searching for her and bringing her to you? That's what you're supposed to do!" Kevin, his wolf, said in his head.
Silas zoned out for a while. He stared into space as he thought about the actions he should take concerning his life with his mate.
Silas wanted to be with his mate. He desired her. Silas didn't want to entertain the thought that he might not have a chance to be with her.
Perhaps it was because she was supposed to be his, destined to be with him; perhaps it was because she was his mate that her fiancé ended up betraying her.
Fate was on Silas's side.
