*ONE MONTH AGO*
Eleanor is on her knees in the middle of the forest, clutching her Witchcraft tightly as she struggles to catch her breath. Her tired and drained body is so drenched in sweat that her t-shirt is stuck to her body. Around her are trees where a few have been slashed in half and others have deep marks of the knives.
She is dwelling on her Core Infusion and how she should perceive further ahead into this.
—He said to think over my Core Infusion but I am nowhere close to figuring it out. Revolution? Yes. That's the way I am trying, as it fits the rhythm of Witchcraft, no matter how fast I try to revolve it around me. There's a limit to how much energy it can produce.
Sigh*
She lies on the ground with her arms wide spread in rest as she sees two falcons flying around very fast, as if one is chasing the other.
—To revolve it more faster, I need more energy; to produce more energy, I need more strength and experience; and to gain experience, I need more time.
At present, I can revolve it at a rate of 20 times per second, and I can't even call that thing a Core Infusion. Sir Rain's Comsic Dive would shatter everything that came into contact with it. If I am to face something of that calibre, my current level looks like an ant fighting with a lion. I need to think of a way to do it. According to Master, it takes 4-6 months to kick off with Core Infusion properly.
As Eleanor lay on the ground, her gaze caught the mesmerising sight of two falcons engaged in a fierce chase across the sky. She watched as one falcon swooped down, its wings slicing through the air as it closed in on its prey. In a display of speed, the falcon that was being pursued spun on its axis, a whirlwind of feathers and grace, before falling to the earth below. In that moment, Eleanor's imagination sparked.
—Wait, what if I....
looks at her Witchcraft and remembers how she moves while using it, her tricks, her leg moments, her hands revolving chains around her.
—Yes. That can work.
With a surge of excitement, Eleanor stands to test her new idea out. She holds her Witchcraft in front of her and takes a deep breath.
Soon, as Eleanor spun on her axis while revolving the chains around her at the same time, her aura clashed, and she emerged into a beam of light upwards, wiping out all the trees around her in one go.
*PRESENT*
"Haha, that's more like it," said River with a smirk. "Let's see who will be the one standing last."
"THUNDER PLUNGE!!!!"
River releases his foot to propel himself at Eleanor.
TAP*
Eleanor spun along with her chains, and the swirling black aura surrounding her clashed and converged, giving birth to radiant beams of light that danced and flickered around her form.
"PULSAR!!!"
Eleanor's Core Infusion: PULSAR.
Normally, she used to wield her chains around her to attack her enemies. Depending on the circumstances, she used different tricks and methods to maintain the flow of her chains. But no matter how much she tried, the amount of force it could produce was limited to the strength she was using to revolve it in that moment, and she didn't have enough time or strength to push it any further. That's when Eleanor thought
"What if I also spin in the centre with the chains around?"
Eleanor was revolving her chains around her at a rate of 20 times per second, and to perfectly execute a Pulsar, she must also spin at the same speed as her chains, or else the chain won't spin properly and it'll break the rhythm by retracting its back.
So far, Eleanor has not even been able to execute it properly. While training, she was able to see what it could do, so she kept at it, and now, finally, when the situation turned do-or-die, she did it.
Her black aura collided, converged, and turned into a jet stream of light, and her knife circled so fast around, creating a zone where it vaporised anything that it touched.
But looking at that, River didn't flinch even for a second.
Thud*
River, his dagger gleaming in the light, plunged through the air with immense speed towards Eleanor's Pulsar, his focus unwavering.
"Aaa!!" with a scream, River surged straight.
Just as his blade was about to strike the invisible barrier before him, time halted its flow. Even his lightning seemed to have stopped in the air. In between the black and white beams of furnance, Eleanor was standing straight like a demon standing in hell. Then, with a blinding flash, the dagger made contact with the barrier, and the world erupted. A deafening boom echoed through the air as a dark, ominous aura enveloped the ground, crackling with lightning around it.
*BOOOM*
As the deafening blast reverberated through the air, a cloud of dust and sand flowered forth, obscuring the once-shrine, trees, and Marthanda, who was witnessing this fight.
"Eleanor..." said Marthanda, blocking his eyes from the dust.
For Marthanda, this was a decisive moment, as it'll determine whether he will leave after this or not.
As the smoke began to move away, the tense silence of the battlefield revealed its outcome. Emerging from the dissipating haze, Eleanor's unmoving form lay sprawled upon the ground, her body against the earth, clutching tightly to her Witchcraft.
*HUFF* *HUFFF*
On the opposite side, drops of crimson dripped on the ground, and with a thud echoing, the dagger slipped from his hand onto the ground, his body sinking to the ground in surrender. His whole right hand, marked by blood and damaged cells, trembled with the aftermath of the conflict. And soon after, Eleanor coughed and rose unsteadily, gripping her witchcraft as she wiped sweat from her mouth.
"Huhhh* Arghhhhhh-" River looked down silently in pain on the ground, as he couldn't move his hand anymore.
Eleanor stands before him and gulps, looking at his condition, and she realises that it's over for him, so she stumbling on her moments, walks towards Marthanda, crossing River.
"Master, are you okay?" asked Eleanor as she sat beside Marthanda, holding him.
"I am okay.." replied Marthanda.
"Come, let's move you to the hospital before it's too late."
A faint chuckle escaped River's lips, growing in intensity with each passing moment until it became a laughter that echoed across the battlefield.
Marthanda and Eleanor both looked at him, at his back, as he sat there and started laughing.
"You think this is over?" said River, turning his head behind in a watchful gaze.
"Huhhh?" Answer me, you Bitch!!!"
"It must be fun now that you have won against me."
River sprouted words of anger, going emotinal, but Eleanor and Marthanda both didn't reply, as they knew that the fight was over and he couldn't do anything anymore with those hands. All they felt was pity for him.
"I will fucking kill you both."
"If not today, then tomorrow or the next day."
"I don't care what I have to do or how much time it'll take, but I come for you both."
"Nothing can save you Hahahhahahah!!!!"
"Remember this."
Stumbling, River stood on the ground. He holds his right hand with the left one, coughing blood after blood, but still isn't stopping his talks.
"You should stop now," said Eleanor. "It's over for you."
"HUHHH??? What did you just say?" yelled River, stumbling around.
Huff* Huff*
"Barak!!!" said River.
Soon, the crows came from everywhere, cawing. One crow sat on his shoulder as he smirked in confidence, telling Eleanor and Marthanda that it's not over yet.
