Aftermath

Silence was the only thing present at the moment, but not for long as the sky trembled after one of the Epoch Giants roared. "You damn old witch you sure are tired of living" His dark and red aura erupting like a volcano, he was absolutely enraged and ready to strike at any moment after all such a strange innate treasure was right at his fingertips.

"Why are you not saying anything old crook, you know full well that we could not even fell the grade or the Dao of the innate treasure."

The second Epoch Giant was silent, but his eyes said another story. His eyes were dead cold with a deep killing intent. The bloodily moron was right he could not fell the grade or the Dao, but a treasure born in the Netherworld was bound to be born with a Dao inclined towards death, darkens, soul or any other Dao that is more present in this shithole of a place. And the grade should by any means be weak after all he could not feel it, and he was an Epoch Giant for heaven's sake.

Saying he was angry was an understatement, he was boiling but could do nothing. After all they had an excuse when they were fighting for the opportunity of the Innate Treasurer but now was gone and any more attacks towards the Bridge of Forgetfulness and the disturbance of the cycle of reincarnation would be an affront towards the Netherworld forces.

For a brief moment he contemplated attacking his partner, but he immediately shut it down as nothing good would come if they fight. He may be slightly stronger the other Epoch Giant but not enough to kill him, they would only become mortal enemies, and he had enough of those.

He had a bitter taste in his mouth, such an opportunity was lost forever. With a sigh the older Epoch Giant turned his back and took a simple step, but he disappeared as if was never there in the first place.

''Hey, where are you going?'' Roared the last Epoch Giant but unfortunately for him his roaring fell on a deaf ear.

''Damn it that bastard run away.'' His face was fuming, and his eyes were bloodshed, his anger was palpable but could only swallow it. The bastard left, and alone could do nothing to the old witch.

He could only leave as well but not before saying a piece of his mind. ''This is not over, mark my words, when I become supreme, I'll kill you and everyone that stood in my way.''

After the departure of the two God-like existence everything returned to normal or as normal as it could be. The valiant looking soldier appeared once again beside the old lady and wanted to ask a question but was interrupted by the cold yet beautiful laughter of the old lady.

''If a may ask Madame what is that you find amusing?'' Ask the soldier with a confused face.

''Well, nothing it's just been quite a while since I heared the barking and ideas of grandeur from an ambitious dog.'' Said the old lady with a small smile on her face.

''But madame there is nothing to laugh at, even if he is an Epoch Giant, he should know his place this is the Netherworld our domain threatening you is nothing more than blasphemy.'' Said the soldier with quite the indignation on his face.

''We should announce the other branches to teach him a lesson.''

''No, it would be a waste of time and resources after all his arrogance and stupidity is catching up to his fate.''

''His fate?'' Ask the soldier once more confused by the old lady.

''Yes, his fate, he's just a brat with ambition higher than the Heavens but as courageous and intelligent as a rat. He survived and thrived only due to his cockroach like fate, but his arrogance and stupidity is catching up. And when it does, he-he-he that would really be funny.''

As much as he was left speechless by the revelation that such an entity had a fate of a cockroach the soldier was more concerned about the souls that have got reincarnated without washing their past memories.

"Madame what should we do?"

"Nothing!"

This time the soldier was truly speechless even after an incense stick of time he still couldn't say anything as he didn't have any ideas as to how to resolve this disastrous event.

"What's that look for."

"But madame can't you use your authority over the cycle of reincarnation to find and bring the mortal souls back?"

"No, finding one or two maybe but there are hundreds of souls that have escape, I don't really have the time nor the patients and that is not even the biggest factor as to why I don't bother to do so."

"Is there actually another reason?"

"I see, you seem to think the I don't do it because I am little bit lazy, well you are partially right however I don't bother because washing the memories is not for my good but for theirs"

"The laws of Heavenly Dao dictates that everyone, from the lowest mortal creature to the highest immortal being when is to be reincarnated is to do so without their past memories and not doing so is an affront toward Heavenly Dao and that will be punished accordingly."

"But Madame this entire incident by all means is not the fault of those mortals what they did was trying to survive"

"Have you learned nothing in your long life, who do you think the Heavenly Dao will punish for this whole fiasco, the Epoch Giants for fighting for an opportunity or some mortals who just had the misfortune to be here?"

How could I forget such I basic thing that the ones punished aren't always the ones at fault but the ones that are weaker. "So, what will happen with those souls?"

"They will be heavily affected by karma, some of them will be born in position that they'll probably be already sent on their way towards the Netherworld, some will live a life of misfortune and tragedy, some with a fate worse than death. And even if by any chance they have the talent or possibility to embark on the path of cultivation they wouldn't go to far as karma will weight to much on them to be able to reach a realm were they can change their fate."

"I see." Said the soldier with a bitter heart, lamenting the unfairness of the world and his own powerlessness."
