Ch 67: A gift worth remembering [pt1]

At night, it was protocol for all the soldiers to return to their respective posts before changing shifts.

That meant that Meria needed to return to the Saintess's side before he was free to head toward his room and sleep.

'The last few days were too much. It doesn't feel like I was the Saintess's guard. I think I spent more time with Kerin than with the Saintess.'

Thinking back on what happened caused Meria's face to blaze up red, but his armour hid all his blush, which Meria was thankful for.

Eric did not comment on anything during the communal dinner since he was too busy keeping an eye on other temple delegates, but he did catch Meria drifting a few times.

He finally decided to bring the issue up once they were alone.

"Meria, is everything alright? You looked distracted throughout the dinner. This is not usually like you."

Eric asked worriedly, and Meria could not help but flinch at the accusation.
