"Saintess, we are honored to have you here. However, I can see that you have a new guard as your chaperone. Was the general we sent not good enough?"

Meria heard those words, and his smile froze on his face.

He was thankful he was wearing a veil because he did not want to show his expression to the world.

Thankfully, Eric decided to interfere quickly and take charge of the situation before it could get ugly.

"General Meria is excellent, so we left him in charge back home. There had been some issue in the temple, and the Saintess could only trust the general enough to resolve it. It's a shame that he could not be here today."

Eric's words had been so genuine and filled with emotions that the guard who asked his question could not say anything in return.
