Chapter 11

Null woke up fifteen minutes after Liam carried him to the medical center. "Fortunately, his regenerative V.P. allows him to heal quickly, It is only a matter of before he wakes--"

The doctor in charge and Liam walked in to see Null sitting up.

"That was quick," the doctor said. She adjusted her glasses. Her V.P. allowed her to have X-ray vision. "He's completely fine let him rest for a few days and he'll be completely fine."

Null looked at Liam for a prolonged period and Liam felt like he understood what he was about to say. "Can I have a moment with him?" he asked. 

"Of course," the doctor said then turned to leave them not before glancing at them.

"Is she going to be punished?" Null asked quietly.

"What for?" Liam said indifferently. He is talking about Vera, isn't he? He felt his tongue sour again.

Null shrugs. "People... I knew were punished... But they never came back."

Liam frowns slightly. "They were killed?"

"They couldn't survive it," Null replied.

Liam took a deep breath and held it in. "Do you care about Vera?" he asked.

Null shook his head. "You just want to know?"

When Null nodded Liam sighed in relief. "She isn't getting punished. She's getting treated," he said.

Null nodded. "You have copied her V.P.?" he asked.

"Yes," Liam replied. "Why?"

Null frowns if he has then he could have used it during their death battle.

"By the way..." Liam said. "Vera wasn't breathing earlier, did you perhaps?"

"CPR," Null said stretching out each letter to make sure he pronounced it properly.

"What?" Liam exclaimed angrily.

Null was puzzled by his reaction. There isn't a big deal with that so why is reacting this way?

'Sunshine got his first kiss!' Liam thought. 'But he doesn't think much of it, so why should I?' he thought then looked at Null who is as clueless as a baby bird.

He hugged him tightly and watched as Null struggled to escape. He doesn't drain his energy and just allows Null to do that until he gives up.

Null realized that his energy wasn't gone as usual but instead of continuing to struggle, he simply just relaxed.

"There you go," Liam said softly smiling. "Do you want to fight me afterward?" he asked.

Null shook his head. "No," he said.

"You are so cute," Liam said hugging him even tighter knowing that Null could handle it.

Null doesn't bother struggling. It is worthless trying anyway.

This scene was seen by several people who went to see Vera. They glare at Null, who immediately notices them, with malice.

Null didn't understand why he was being looked at like that and simply ignored them.

A picture of this was taken before they left and Liam enjoyed his time hugging Null.

Vera woke with a heavy pain in her chest and back. She couldn't sit up when she tried to and the pain became worse 

Her loss happened so fast. Null must not be a human being, humans show signs of pain or at least stop when they get hurt, but he didn't.

If she hadn't seen blood, she would have believed he was some kind of robot.

'It's no wonder Liam keeps him by his side... He's very strong,' she thought as tears flowed from her eyes.

Her friends came in and they were surprised to see her awake. "Vera," one of them said softly. "Are you alright? Do you want me to get Liam, he can help heal your wounds."

"Don't bother... Liam is too busy being all cuddly with the d**k that did this to Vera," a red-haired boy, who is the only make in this friend group, said.

"What?" Vera said she sounded raspy.

Another friend of hers took out her phone and showed her the photo of Liam hugging Null.

Vera's eyes dulled almost immediately. "Oh..." she said dully.

"Don't be sad we can--"

"Leave... Please, " she said as if she was about to cry.

"Of course," her friend said and every one of them left. It wasn't wise to not listen to Vera when she was in a state of depression.

Her V.P could easily spiral out of control.

She cried even harder without making a sound. She hears the door open. "I said you should leave," she said angrily. 

"See Null, I told you it wasn't worth coming here," Liam said.

Vera's eyes widened, but she didn't speak. 'Does he want to humiliate me in front of Liam?' she thought.

Null walks up to her and holds his notepad to her face. 'You are awake.' it said.

"Yes, I am, angry about that?" she said sarcastically.

Null simply looks at her blankly. "I believe he was worried about you," Liam said. "And that pisses me off," he said angrily. 'He doesn't even know what worry feels like!'

Null's blank face with no emotions was getting her angry. "Are you a human or a robot? At least show an expression or say something!" she said angrily breathing heavily.

Null is about to speak when Liam covers his mouth. "I thought your talking was between both of us," he said sadly then hugged Null holding him tightly while struggled.

Vera cried even more. "If you are here to show off your love then I don't care... Go away," she said.

"What love?" Liam said clueless, seeing that he was distracted Null became close to breaking free, but Laim realized and used the energy-draining V.P. on him. "This is a little play I invented for us. See how long Sunshine struggles while I hug him until he gives up..." he said with a straight face.

'How can you say that with a straight face?' Vera thought in disbelief.

Null seemed to have gone limp in Liam's hands and had fallen unconscious. 

"Too far," Liam said carrying him up like a princess. "Anyway..." he said then looked at Vera. "I applaud your efforts for fighting him for the time you did," he said turning around. "If not because he has no other choice but to hold back on you then the fight wouldn't have taken as long as it did."

Just as he walked away, Vera asked, "Have you fought him already?"

"Yes... I nearly lost," Liam replied. "He is strong... If I were an ordinary V.P. user I would have ended up like you," he said. "I'll come back to heal you later because that's what we came here to do."

Vera's heart began beating loudly once more as she blushed. 'He does care about me!' she thought.

'Why do I have to help heal her, Null?' Liam thought upset as he carried Null out of the hospital room.
