Growth

First Pov

The moment the two souls touched mine they simply disappeared but I could feel the change they have brought me. My energy reserve doubled and I felt like I had unlocked another part of me, which was strange.

Upon closer examination, I understood why, attributes couldn´t exist in the nothingness of my soul but I did gain the ability to perfectly imitate them. This led to my attributes being able to share abilities to a certain extent like me suddenly gaining the ability to feel the earth like I did with souls, and to my mind being noticeably more analytic.

After spending a short while to get used to the new sense and change in thinking. I summoned my grimoire, it did not look any different on the outside but I could feel that it had changed as well, which was only logical as grimoires were made of mana and grew with their owner, even if not as much as mine.

Speaking of which, grimoires were one of the unique specialties of this reality as they were pseudo spirits and could take on the attributes of their owners, the other specialty was that beings of this universe could not only have attributes that were part of the universe but also made up ones by humans, like keys, chains and mirrors, that acted in the way humans believed them to.

My grimoire only had a few new spells, soul dissect, soul absorption, and analysis, but that would change very soon as I had plans to finally start getting into magic types. Magic was categorized into creation, defensive, healing, curse, seal, restrain, compound, and forbidden type.

My soul attribute was not useful in defense, unless against another soul attribute user, but had the miraculous ability to create, heal, seal, and attack souls but with the earth attribute I could finally use the other to get a reliable and much-needed defense. I would love to start creating new spells immediately but I was too tired, so I used my earth sense to feel around for a cave or something similar where I could finally catch some sleep.

I wasn´t able to find a cave so I just made myself a tunnel and closed it up again, not the most comfortable place to sleep but it was safe and dark, not that I needed my eyesight under the earth anymore anyway.

It´s been a week since then and I have become accustomed to living in the tunnel, not to sleep but to get around unnoticed and abduct people for their souls. So far, I have acquired the illusion, plant, wind, enchantment, water, and most importantly game attribute.

I obtained the game attribute from a wandering entertainer that was in a nearby town after I skewered him during his sleep using an earth spike from below, it honestly wasn´t a very powerful attribute but it was the only one that changed my grimoire in such as drastic way.

While it didn´t give me a system, which I always found unrealistic by the way because it required a powerful being to fuel the host's growth by transforming his body and soul, which if I had the power to I would just do it instantly without having to level up, but it did allow me to view my grimoire like it was a system that no one else could see and gave me a status on the first page.

That was all for now but I could always add new sections. It didn´t give me any advantages but it was nice to have my stuff organized. Anyway, I was currently on my way to a cliff directly at the sea because this was where I was planning to build my home. I was planning to make a cave into the side so that you could only access it by boat, swimming, or water magic, kinda like a pirate cave but I was planning to use a compound type spell that combined illusion and enchantment to hide to entrance.

Inside I would use plant magic to create a small farm, a well using water and earth magic, and light using illusion to make it a perfectly inhabitable and decently comfortable place. From there I could not only create tunnels to populated areas but I would also be hidden from magic knights who were going to investigate the frequent disappearances and mysterious deaths
